Defenders are underrated in football they rarely win individual awards I think there should be a Ballon d’Or in every category (gk, defence, midfield, attack) that would be fairer

I quite agree with your idea. However, Ballon d'Or is for the most influential & best player in the world, so attackers may have more credit regarding this. There's another way to give credits to other positions: putting more emphasis on current awards for the best player on each categories.
