Cartel Land Official Trailer 1 (2015) - Drug Cartel Documentary HD
CARTEL LAND is a classic western set in the 21st century, pitting vigilantes on both sides of the border against the vicious Mexican drug cartels. With unprecedented access, this character-driven film provokes deep questions about lawlessness, the breakdown of order, and whether it is just for citizens to take up arms to fight violence with violence.

This should be the 1st documentary where cameramen get Oscars for having balls this big. I've seen films like "The War Tapes" where cameramen put themselves in harms way (in a tactical, shielded manner). But I've never seen a film where cameramen actively run towards the shooters... who happen to be the cartel with machine guns everyones got guns and worst there's no laws or real procedure to control anything. Jesus fucking christ.
@robertsmith3227

+Robert Cece thats because the movie isnt real. when you watch it yourself you'll see. theyre actors with no adrenaline in their eyes, no palpitating breathing from stress or fear, even though theyre in the middle of a "shoot out". its the fakest movie ive seen in a while. its a blair witch project type of thing. a fake movie, made to look real.
@brendanoconnell2306
@brendanoconnell2306 8 років тому
+Robert Smith When these events happen daily for over 10 years, you grow numb. CIA recruits have to watch all the thousands of execution videos, skinning videos, burning videos, etc to grow numb to seeing the actual thing while out in "the field". Head over to LiveLeak if you don't believe you can kill a human being with vacant eyes and tranquility.
@robertsmith3227
@robertsmith3227 8 років тому
Brendan O'Connell oh there's more than just the lack of fear in this movie. there's lack of everything. no matter what anybody is doing. like when anyone is "scanning" the desert with their eyes, you'll feel like theyre blankly staring at a wall. the movie is staged. watch the movie when it comes out or go download it, and then tell me if you feel like its real.
@brendanoconnell2306
@brendanoconnell2306 8 років тому
+Robert Smith Point taken. While i stand by my comments made in a general sense about a sort of "vacantness" and entirely mechanical nature of killing, I just watched the first half of the documentary and agree that it does not seem like a documentary. I'd guess parts of it are (and there is some inherent truth is what i've seen) but yes i believe you are correct also. Much of this does not seem real in a documentary sense. I mean even the multiple camera angles and cinematography seem more like a docu-drama than real life for sure. i apologize for my overly brash response earlier. A lot of the autodefensa "town hall" meeting type conversations with the people seem completely staged, though perhaps the words used ring true.

I've read too many articles, seen too many pictures, and watched too many videos. My mom recently visited family is Mexico, she told me a story that one of her sister's neighbor was caught by the Mexican police. Turns out she was involved with the kidnappings. Scary stuff.

This is truly one of the most dramatic and authentic documentaries ever made. They filmed interrogations, raids, protests, violent political rallies and even the build up to a torture/murder. On top of that, extremely revealing interviews particularly with the old mustachioed man. For those interested in the narco/drug war world, it's a must see.

Dai Mendieta you're wrong. This is how cartels recruit where I'm from. They either make you join by force, if not they murder your family and you. Another way the cartels get more men is because they know the poorest parts of mexico have many men that need money for the following reason. Many are farmers who rely solely on the money their farming products get, which in this case is pretty damn small. This is due to the U.S importing agricultural products from there to Mexico. This in return causes farmer's products to go to an all time low because the state gets the food for much cheaper from the U.S. So basically the farmers don't get much, the average wage for a farmer in Mexico, from prior experience, is 10$ a day about. So many resort to the cartels for better pay for them and their families since the all time low has been around for decades, they find no better choice but to join and "they" are not a big majority of the farmers, but do make up a lot of the cartel's percentage of men. One more way many get recruited from my knowledge is through abduction. Cartels abduct young teenagers and kids and tell them to do crimes if not they will be killed or murdered, and of course like anyone they will fear for their life and do the crime. And lastly there are psychopaths/sociopaths that join, I'm sure, at their own will and do it because as you said, "they love the power trip". And well the Mexican government doesn't do anything to help anyone at all, so pretty much mexico is just a giant blunder fuck in a sense and of course I'm not saying all of Mexico is fucked up, but as there are parts that are pretty nice, there is also parts where it's all fucked up.

This looks so good. I mentioned this documentary to my boyfriend (he's white and in TV and movie editing) and he was very much excited, just like me, to watch it. I've always been curious about this topic. This cartel world is encouraged by the Mexican government so it's hard for the people of Mexico to defeat it without something bad happening to them. The Dr. In this documentary is a very brave man. He's trying to have a better life for everybody. People posting negative comments should watch this documentary and learn a thing or two about the dynamics of living in Mexico; hopefully have a more humble opinion about this issue.

Dai Mendieta I saw it. The Dr. is not as a good person as you think. He indulged in personal pleasure (women) even though he was married but at least he admits it. He let women get to his head instead of focusing on the real problem which was the infiltration of the Cartel within their own ranks.

Yes, they deserved it. In the beginning they capture that Templar and he says, "in the past we've let them go and they've come right back to massacre people in the town, right now we all forgive this man but we know he will do the same for us" Then he tell the one who captured him to get what information he can out of him and then to kill him. Sometimes you hsve to fight fire with fire. They knew turning the other cheek would only allow them to continue to do even worse things. At least they were torturing them for a good reason and not torturing and killing inoocent children and babies. The Dr. even said for them not to raid peoples houses, he said we don't want to become like the people we are fighting against. But he still knew what had te be done. The corruption came from other people infiltrsting the group. Then they became the same as cartels

I saw this documentary last night. It was pretty good. I wished it focused more on the cause of the formation of cartels, which is the overwhelming demand here in the United States. When people say Mexicans should "fix it", Americans here should fix their drug addicts both on the streets and on Wall Street. The people who most consume drugs are the richest. Fixing that will stop a demand for drugs hopefully causing the cartels to weaken.
@TAMPATLBLACK
@TAMPATLBLACK 8 років тому
Liz G The only way to fix it is to legalize it all and make it available in the 7-11 tax it (pay off the debt) and the cartels will go broke. I mean if they legalized all drugs tomorrow the regular person will not do any and the addicts were gonna do it anyway but illegally and support the cartels. Real talk.
@jb76489
@jb76489 8 років тому
+Liz G this is so ridiculously inaccurate; firstly, more of the demand for the drugs the cartels deal is to places in Europe where it fetches a much higher price, second the solution is not to fix people, which has already failed miserably and thirdly, whilst certain drugs are consumed more by wealthier individuals, overall the opposite is true
