An absolutely beautiful movie, a true piece of art!! Hayao Miyazaki, Joe Hisashi, I don't know where you are, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my childhood the best

Does anybody feel a kind of emptyness whenever a Ghibli movie ends? Like you are leaving a fantastical world full of wonders and excitment. A world full of rich and colorful characters and places. A world you want to see more.

Anyone else think Studio Ghibli films are the best films ever made?

The fact that two kids chose nature over greed has captivated me my entire life. I love every love for nature in studio Ghibli films.

There’s something so depressingly beautiful here. I feel a lurch if sadness in my stomach, but at the same time I feel a kind of warmth in my heart. It’s like a parting of friends you know you won’t see again, but knowing they go on to live happy, love-filled lives.

I was a lonely sad kid. I cried myself to sleep, i cried myself doing my chores - all i could do was cry. Living hurt so much...but i still remember how happy it made me watching Ghibli movies. I wouldn't be here if they hadn't been created. Thank you so much Hayao Miyazaki, for giving us things to hope.

When I was little kid, I had this yearn for adventure. I wished that one night I would be magically whisked away into a fantastical world for an incredible adventure I would never forget. As I grew older, I slowly came to realize that was never possible. Several years later, I finally got around to watching Castle in the Sky. This movie captured that feeling of adventure and wonder that my child self was looking for in such a perfect way. I’ve always been a fan of Ghibli, but this movie really stuck to me. It still remains as my favorite film to this day.

I wish this film didn't have an ending

This movie was on the TV one night, when I was home alone and I watched it. Well, I tried. I fell asleep because I had never been awake that long into the night but I semi-woke up during this ending song and its stuck with me every since. It took me nearly a full decade of growing up to find this movie again and with it this soundtrack. Thanks, Studio Ghibli.

I remember being a little girl, sitting cross-legged in front of the TV when the credits rolled. This song was so beautiful that it had a rare affect on me that most songs DIDN'T have when I was little, and I cried a little bit just listening to it. What an amazing film. I have to write it somewhere. I started my Bachelor in mechanical engineering back in Summer 2019 and i got my final result for the last exam which i failed 2 times last year. I studied like a madman and felt like human garbage for taking so long. I lost so much in these 4 years...my pride, my hair, hope, confidence but i perservered nonetheless. It was so effing hard and i wish i never started this journey but i passed. I PASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEED. Never in my life was i so excited. I even screamed just by seeing the result. I never did anything of that sorts. I am so glad and I thank God for everything that is good and green on this earth. I hope that every single human is as blessed as i am in this very moment!!!!!!!!

This is the first official Studio Ghibli movie. I just watched it yesterday. I can't put it into words how much I admire Studio Ghibli for producing such masterpieces. Those movies will always have a special place in my heart and help me in dark times...

This song is so hauntingly nostalgic it brings me to tears. I remember my sisters and I begging my mom to let the song play through it's entirety when I was very little. God, ghibli movies are amazing.

Is it just me, but I really feel all the feelings from ghibli's anime's songs. It feels like Joe Hisashi really poured all his feelings into the songs. I feel the overflowing feel from every ghibli's song. I don't know a song could tremble a heart by its mysterious feelings.

Just watched Castle in the Sky for the first time. I've already seen some other Ghibli movies but this one is easily my favorite. I wish I had seen this when I was a kid, my younger self would've been even more awe inspired than I am now

When I was little, around 8 years old my father would always watch movies with me on the weekends, as back then TV would actually show worth to watch movies on a weekly basis. One Saturday he only told me that the trailer he saw earlier during ad break looked promising and that I would surely like it. Until then I had only known Western animation, I didn't know a thing about Japan but when I watched that movie with my dad I absolutely fell in love with the pure art that is studio ghibli. I would regularly watch the movie when I noticed it was up on TV until I got the DVD for Christmas. I hadn't seen it for a while and watched it again as an adult and I felt right at home again. By now I have seen almost all the other ghibli films and I adore every single one of them, but CitS will forever remain my favourite.

Still as beautiful as ever. Nothing tops studio Ghibli. Everything remains just as precious as it was.

Can’t even lie, it’s been over 10 years since I watched it. I ended up showing my gf it yesterday, and I actually teared up and started to cry as soon as I heard the first soundtrack. It was, quite literally, the first movie I ever remember watching. I was an ‘05 kid, so I’m kinda “young” in comparison to the movie. We had it on one of the original eng-dub VHS tapes, same with KiKi’s Delivery Service. Both were pristine, and the player we had was kind of nearing its end. So I wasn’t able to watch it much on them, but I still have the tapes. It’s one of those movies, where I wish they made just a little bit of a longer animation of Pazu and Sheeta after they made it up north. Just to see what would happen in their lives. A happy life, learning all about how Sheeta made it so far before she was captured? Would they settle down up in the mountains, or returned to where Pazu lived? Would they grow up and live a happy life together, married with kids? Or travel the world together, and learn more about the floating islands history? Or become famous for such an amazing adventure they’d have accomplished, and be hailed as legends? Who knows. That’s for our minds to imagine :)

No matter how many times I hear this song and watch this film. It always feels like the first time. Its not only a film, its my nostalgic.

I showed this to my kids and now they watch it everyday. They have seen it like 6 times now.

My life fell apart, I stand in front of my own ruins, I'm only a shadow of myself. Things seem empty, lonely, sad and desperate. But when I come by studio ghiblis works I see a small glimpse of light shine inside me again. My life used to be so much simpler, I had not much, but all I needed in the end was to watch serene and meaningful animated movies from Japans great studios that still DRAW their works, and I was satisfied. I look back with nostalgia on these days.

Castle In The Sky and Princess Mononoke have to be my favourite Ghibli films ever. The music these two films harbour is so beautifully haunting and nostalgic with a hint of sadness. The stories, characters, everything. Well..... I mean nearly all Ghibli films are like this. That's what makes them all so special. Thank you for letting me witness your tales from a young age Ghibli.

I watched Castle in the Sky in theaters today and is my first Studio Ghibli film I have watched, it is nothing but a piece of art. I wish there was films like this now a days. Update: Ok after like 4 years later this dated as fuck. I wrote this when I was 13. But I still cry at the opening theme and it's still overall a special movie for me.

Studio Ghibili end credits songs (no small part due to Joe Hisaishi) have such a bittersweet feeling to them. Your glad to have gone on the up and downs of the journey through the movie but don't want it to end.

I remember when I had really strong depression and these movies from Ghibli helped me a lot to relieve me of my crippling anxiety.

I can not describe what the Ghibli Animes means to me. It’s just perfection on its highest level. The films really changed my life as a kid. I remember it very well, at the age of 6, when my sister, brother and my mother watch that on our film evening at Friday (SuperRTL - Germany). Back then and even today, this film creates a strange feeling of nostalgia. It really hurts to see it in a kind way. I think it was the first time ever I felt that. I can not really describe it. I personally think it’s a masterpiece of art and I really hope that films like these will be produced as long people live.
