Once I had learned this, I went and textured the iron golems to look like these robots in my own texture pack. So when ever I play I get excited when I find a village and find an iron golem with them.

Akira was made in the 80s too Hedgehog in the fog in 1975 Snow white in 1937 Starry Night was painted in 1889 and the Sistine Chapel in 1508-12 The minonan frescoes were painted in the 2nd millennium BC Meanwhile 2017 gave us Emoji movie and Boss baby. If anything it feels like things have gotten worse.

Just a reference. There are other shared animals between some Miyazaki works. Shuna's Journey, Nausicaa (film and manga), Castle in the Sky and Princess Mononoke all share some fantastic animals

I have a theory that it's the same timeline. Obviously, the fox squirrels, also, many of the machines seem to be based on the insects from Nausicca, and the robot's lasers are strikingly similar to those of the giant warriors.

Wow I had no idea. Went to watch that episode and damn the design is the same except for a few things, even some scenes in the episode have a striking ressemblance to Castle in the Sky. Kinda interesting that they would recycle a design in such completely different universes like that. I guess they must've thought it was so cool they couldn't just leave at that, and to be honest, I agree. God I freaking love it

Honestly me too man. I grew up with the Disney DVD Dub, which gave the robots different sound effects. They sounded a lot more "clunky" and metallic in the dub, which terrified me because I was scared of robots. The one scene I remember being especially terrified of was the scene when the first robot is initially woken up by sheetas spell. Just before it gets up, it's lights begin to flicker on its head. That shit traumatised me lmao. Funnily enough, I'd always get really sad when the robot was killed by the Goliath Airship. Something about the robot made me both terrified of it, but also feel affectionate for it. Looking back, the damaged robot soldier is possibly my favourite movie character ever.

Literally. When I was a kid I always felt terrified of that robot. The way it moved, its creepy noises, etc etc. But when it died, I couldn't help but feel really sad. The way it reached its hand out to sheeta can still bring a tear to my eye to this day :(

​@@yuki_foxsoul8425 yeah, the common consensus is that the garden ones, (including the ones embedded in the trees, etc) were made to uphold the Castles gardens and such. The one that flies was a Soldier variant. Also the hundreds that are released near the end are soldiers too. While it may just be a minor scaling mistake in animation, the robots are of different sizes too. The First robot soldier appears noticeably larger next to Sheeta, compared to the Gardener one. Would make sense, considering its got jets, wings, lasers and such added to it.

The fighting robots are the same. The gardener one has had thousands of years to become self aware and develop a personality

It appears the Soldier variants had some sort of ability to track royal citizens, like how the first Soldier tracked down Sheeta in the castle and died protecting her. Makes me wonder why the other Soldier ones didn't leave laputa to project the royals. I imagine the Gardener ones couldn't do much, because they can't fly or attack things.

A lot of creators copy and use similar designs from older films like this.
