it was facing away from the cats, so they didn't see the illusion until after they had passed the rug. They probably would have reacted more strongly if they first saw it like we do

The illusion is lost because the mat needs to be 180deg turned round. So as the cat enters and sees the mat they just see something different not the illusion. By the time they've walked on it, there's not illusion just the smell of the material and knowing there is something different to investigate.

I was surprised how well the illusion works for the multiple angles we do get to see it. A perspective of a cat's head approaching the rug would have been nice to see. Still, I got the impression they were just inspecting a new object for the most part. Though preferring the edges of the rug when crossing it when running around with the human was interesting. It did seem like they were inspecting the illusion a little bit, as well.

Raon keep watching the rug every time she passed it. While Noel just got too excited because of the rug. 😂

At first glance I would think the cats can't even see the illusion because their field of view is only a foot or so off the ground like the early camera angle shows and there simply just checking out something new in the house as cats are curious in nature. However later on in the video a couple of the cats can be seen jumping over the illusion spot and pawing at the sloping areas in the illusion, so it's hard to say what they're really seeing. Cute cats!

These cats got me laughing from the start- they are super sensitive and could PASS anty test!!! Even lLook how they judged if you were going to worry about the thing that looked like a hole, before playing on it!! They are like children, but super smart

This rug will not work for the cats. The perspective is made for standing humans. The eyes of the cats are to narrow to the ground. They only react to the rug itself, cause it is something which was not there an hour before. 🥰 If something is changed in their environment, it must be supervised (and needs some additional hair). 🥰
