Meryl Streep is a great actress but her 21 Oscar nominations show that Hollywood has a limited amount of meaty roles for women and just like Susan Sarandon has stated the best ones are offered to Meryl Streep first and that has been the case for decades.

It is bull that Streep didn't know about Wienstein. My spouse has worked in Hollywood circles for years, and everyone knew about him. EVERYONE. For Streep to posture as a champion of women and the Me Too movement was adding insult to injury. She should have remained humbly silent. It is embarrassing to watch her pile on the bull.

Anyone that believes Streep didn’t know about Weinstein is VERY naive.

She gets all of the roles for a reason. She’s an incredible actress who can literally convert into any human!! I love watching her characters!!

Katharine Hepburn did say she thought Glenn Close was an excellent actor, outside of the feet. Close still has a letter from her with encouragement.

I do like her as an actress, but does she really need to be nominated so often for an academy award? Some of her performances did not deserve a nomination, but she received it just because of who she is.

I feel when you are watching a movie that Meryl is in you are watching a true incredible actress , she morph in too that character with brilliance. She is by far the best actress ever in my opion. My favorite was Sophie's Choice , Everytime I watch it I am more amazed .

I agree with Hepburns view on meryl and she just picked on Glen for no reason. Glen Close and Ellen Burstyn or Jessica Lange is better in terms of their movies and range. Especially Glen Close, she could have been perfect the role in devil wears Prada. She was good as cruela de vil but that was a a cartoon character but she would be perfect for a role based on true person like Anna Wintour.

I don't equate Hepburn's disdain with jealousy, but I do question her taste. I have enjoyed various performances of Julia Roberts and Melanie Griffith, but to put either of them on par with Streep is ridiculous. They are talented, absolutely, but not in her league. Streep's contemporaries include Sigourney Weaver, Jessica Lange, and Glenn Close, all of whom I consider to rival her in ability and talent.

Anyone who is universally beloved and revered as this woman almost seems like she should get her share of criticism whether valid or unjustified otherwise it would be like breaking some major cosmic law.

My Grandmother is an actress. She has been acting since the early 1950s. She said the same thing Streep said about Weinstein and she worked for him. She didn't know. She wasn't silent. She just didn't know. She does go on to say that she was already in her late 50s when she was in a Weinstein Production so he wouldn't want an "old broad" anyway.

I don't think Meryl Streep is the best actress that ever lived but she is quite good. What I like about her is her sense of humor and her down to earth personality. She looks like someone I would like to be my friend

I love Meryl Streep. Maybe she is offered every woman's part first. She should be. She's the best. I only watched this to see who said what... and none of them made one bit of difference. Why not? Not one said she was difficult to work with or that she was in any way unprofessional. Or that she trash-mouthed anyone else. I've watched her my whole life and enjoyed every performance I was able to see From Kramer Vs. Kramer, Sophie's Choice, Silkwood, A Cry In The Dark, The French Lieutenant's Woman... right up through Don't Look Up! -- I did miss a few; but life has intruded. But you know what a really love about her? She's a professional. She does her work and she goes home. She's never been the center of a scandal which, honestly, I am grateful for-- scandals are to often just cheap grabs for attention. I don't enjoy scandals at all. What I enjoy is appreciating people who do their work well and live their own lives. And, BTW? Look at how right she was about Trump. That needed to be said. I only wish more people had talked about his early years and his despotic ways long ago. I remember them and was ALWAYS against him holding any office higher than street cleaner. I wouldn't even trust him as dog catcher-- he'd probably turn that into something nasty, too.

Oh well, so there's going to be people that didn't like Meryl Streep. I tend to believe the Katherine Hepburn stuff, as she was notoriously outspoken and cantankerous. Nothing Meryl has ever said can ever take away from what an amazing actress she is. I used to have this view that she was overrated, but looking at her body of work and roles, she stands out. What a gift she has to transform herself, her voice and mannerisms. It's kind of in our nature to get tired of it when people are repeatedly so successful, but she darn well deserves the accolades.

I can't stand Trump but he never mocked the disabled reporter. That's how he mocks everyone he disagrees with. There's ample proof of him doing the same exact mocking form many able-bodied individuals. Context matters. Truth matters.
