I wonder if I could track down my "Epic" moment in College Football back in 1984. It was broadcast Regionally on TNT. They used to do lots of Football games on Saturday Nights. I was playing for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers back when Lou Holtz was Coach. We played in the Hubert Humphrey Metrodome (the same place the Minnesota Twins and Vikings played) and because of that, all of our Home Games were Saturday Nights at 7 PM. We nicknamed it the "Metrodump" because it sucked to both watch sports in because of very hard plastic chairs that the natural position of the seats was folded up and because the Floor/Ground had a very thin padding over cement and an Astroturf that would literally tear up any exposed skin when you got tackled. (We used to cut the feet off of our socks and put them on our forearms to TRY to save as much skin as possible. Think sliding into 2nd base on a hard infield dirt area with shorts on. You know the kind of Rash Tearing Raspberry injury you end up with). I was a Fullback/TE mostly known for some pretty decent Blocking Abilities. Running and Pass Catching was So-So, nothing to write home about. Except for one Touchdown pass of 41 yards at the end of the 1st half. I did a deep slant from the Right to the left nearly across the entire field before the Linebacker shadowing me got caught up in a Pick Play with his OWN guy. The pass was off my fingertips as I stretched out with one arm. Luckily the ball tipped straight up so I was able to keep it "In Play" and still juggling it with one hand for about 10 yards into the Endzone where I finally secured it in the palm of my hand 1 step before going out of bounds to the side of the Endzone. It was my first Collegiate Touchdown and between the excitement of the catch (which really was highlight worthy), the fact we went ahead as time was running out in the half, and my Full Speed Run, I for some reason didn't really stop nor even slowed down, at least right away. I ran about 8 yards into the Sidelines and suddenly realized I needed to stop and stop like RIGHT NOW The TV Cart (which was like a specially designed Golf Cart with a massive wooden stage built onto it to house the camera and camera guy which stood on top of it, had suddenly driven right into my path of trajectory. The Golden Gophers Mascot, Goldy, saw this and intercepted me at an angle before I hit the cart. But because the person in the Mascot Outfit was nothing more than a 106 lb Sophmore Girl (I know the exact weight of her but how that came about later that night is a bit "X-Rated" for UKposts lol) this poor little thing had absorbed the Kinetic Energy of my 6'7" 265lb. Body with Pads and a Helmet at a full run. Needless to say, my soon to be future girlfriend flew thru the air so hard and far she hit the Female Cheerleaders that were over halfway thru the process of building a Pyramid and the rest were climbing up it. They all dropped like the pins at a bowling alley when you throw a big massive strike. There were little sexy cheerleaders sprawled out all over the sidelines, many withering in pain from one injury or another but nearly all of them had the telltale signs of "Kissing" the Astroturf on their exposed legs, arms, and even a few, their faces. The poor little mascot, Goldy just layed there motionless so I did the unthinkable and removed her "Head" to see if she was still alive. She was but she was only semi-conscious and there weren't enough Trainers to go around for all the hurt Cheerleaders. I tried talking to her but she wasn't really answering me so I told her in my Swimming Class I learned CPR and felt if she didn't answer me I was going to have to do mouth to mouth with some lifesaving tongue just to be on the safe side. That snapped her out of it and she declined my very generious and gallant lifesaving offer. But she did say after the game if I went to a certain party after the game she would take me up on the offer lol. Being the fact the TV Cart was right there, I am pretty sure they got it all on video.

That rabbit had more all purpose yards than my team this weekend...
