He was amazed to see a lady driving a big motorcicle like Alaska...and calling you "tia/auntie" or "mãe/mother" or "Godmother/madrinha" will be frequent...it is a sign of respect. "Tia or Tio ( in that case for men )" its an affectionate and very informal way to call someone older than you. When they called you " Amiga" is also a informal way to greet everyone. Lovin' it. I didn't know that Angola was so beautiful. The only thing I knew was about the Angolan civil war and the military intervention by the Soviet Union and Cuba. I only knew that Angola was unstable for years - not that they were one of the fastest growing economies in South Africa. And of course, the people are so nice. A pilgrimage site, where during Angola's long war (1961 - 2002) women went to that little church and asked A Nossa Senhora de Muxima for peace. Muxima has a most special place in my heart - and in fact that's what the name actually means: heart. Beautiful country, beautiful incredible people. Thank you!

In .any cultures, the saying, "it takes a village" is heart felt. I taught my daughter to call her elders auntie. In Hawaii, it's an ice breaker for brown people. It shows respect for their culture. I'm not sure why, but watching yo in Angola has made me very emotional. I remember their war. Some of my friends fought their. Unfortunately, when I was a young man, I mostly learned geography through wars. Since finding you on your 90 min Patagonia to Alaska doc. I have made a point to watch all of your videos. As a Brazilian, I was happy to see Norally speaking Portuguese in a country that is so different but that shares its language with us. By the way, don't feel old, here in Brazil children call young preschool teachers "tia".

On this 2 last videos you went through historical places related to Netherlands!The Dutch West India Company took over Luanda and surrounding areas in the middle of the 17th century in order to control the trade in the area. The dutch colony was called Governorate Loango-Angola. The Dutch had allied with the kingdom of Congo and with Queen Nzinga of the Ndongo kingdom. But in the end both parties had different interests ( the kingdoms wanted to get rid of the portuguese along the rivers Cuanza and bengo and Luanda and the dutch just wanted to trade). Anyway the dutch presence lasted only 7 years, but they went on trading well into the 18th century. Muxima where you have been, was stage of a battle between dutch and portuguese forces. When you entered Luanda from the north you were not far away from the Fort of Sao Pedro da Barra that was started by the dutch and the fortaleza de Sao Miguel in Luanda was renamed at the time Fort Aardenburgh. And also some dutch family names still exist nowadays. So, somehow you were biking on your ancestors footsteps. And you were on the Quissama National Park area, great with wildlife! Go on having a great time in this beautiful country!
