@@yvonnefarrell1029 I was born and raised in york, all by york folk going right down my ancestry line, I was lucky enough to live before my great grandmother passed away at 92 when I was 7 years old (I'm now 31) and still remember the stories she told me its kept me humbled in my generation and the generations following me just do not understand how lucky we are today we've got it all compared to how they had to live. Soo much history!

York Minster is far more than a magnificent church. This incredible medieval cathedral is a testament to the craftsmen who built it and the people who have worshipped there over so many centuries. I'm not religious but I adore these cathedrals and churches that have remained constant in our ever-changing world.

It is also indisputable that having a member of the Royal Family be patron for a charity shines a light on the work being done, raises it's profile and brings in money which otherwise would not be made available.

They go to see the building not the royals. Look into charities and see how much their CEOs earn. That's all a big fat con too. Local charities who make sure the money goes to the real cause are worth giving to, not the money making / money grabbers who front these scams.

@@dd7521 Am not sure exactly how much the British tax payer pays a year but I read it is 1 pound 29 which is far less than the hundreds of millions the Monarchy adds to the British economy each year. I wasn't actually talking about people going to visit Buckingham Palace. The charities I am talking about are up front legit local charities set up in communities all over the UK to support young disadvantaged youth, domestic violence, homeless etc which benefit greatly from the Royal patronages. I don't care if you are a republican, that's your business.

Okay we may not all like the Monarch and to protest about he's not our king is ridiculous, it was a Maundy Thursday and he was giving charity he will be blessed my almighty God for doing so. We can't change the past regarding slavery and CHARLES can not be held accountable for something he had no involvement with it was his ancestors he shouldn't be targeted on that. He's done alot of good with giving to charity and establishing the prince's trust. I'm no royal fan at all, but I'm proud to be british and what is just is just, and he held the Christian faith yesterday by doing what he must.
