I feel like there’s definitely something wrong with the scale tbh, and just by the way the commissions handle themselves with mma I wouldn’t be surprised. And for the people saying “how could he not lose half a pound in an hour???” When you’re that dehydrated and you’ve cut a lot of weight already, it’s incredibly hard to lose more especially half a pound in just an hour. He obviously weighed himself in the back and that scale said 155. Either way, I can’t believe they really took the belt away from him after he earned it the hardest way

This is why MMA and Boxing need to implement, Same Day Weigh-in on Fight Night. Cutting weight is no joke and unhealthy. I would prefer seeing fighters at there true natural competition weight, not an over inflated fighter that's not true to his weight class. Then fighter can cut no more than 2-3% of there body weight through dehydration when weighing-in on the same day as the fight. At this level of dehydration, with the correct rehydration strategy you can realistically be back to full weight (and optimum hydration) within 4-hours - before you climb in the Cage or Ring.

Someone mentioned how hard it is to cut that last half pound when you’re already dehydrated to that extent, and they’re right. If you’ve been there you know that it’s hell. It’s much easier said than done. I feel for him but at the same time weight management is key to this sport as it is in wrestling. Hopefully he can get passed this and come in with a clear head tomorrow. This just made Justin night a bit easier bc he’s coming in fresh and on weight.

I remember when Khabib weighed in for the fight against Justin. They barely even looked at that scale and called the weight before the scale even set. It doesn't look to me like Charles is getting that same treatment. Also, this leaves the door wide open at Lightweight for Conor in his comeback.

I mean I understand because the other contestant did make the weight and there should be no excuse, the moment we start forgiving these rules or put monetary penalties (like in boxing) we are not only putting a price on the belt (which shouldn't have a price) but also will make other fighters not work hard enough to make such weight. This is so weird. He never misses weight. He is usually one of the first fighters to weigh in and has this under complete control.

It’s so hard for me to believe that Charles was over by .5, took an hour to lose the half pound, and then came back weighing the exact same as when he did before. Even if your body is completely drained from a bad weight cut, you can still do some calisthenics in the sauna or other methods to lose fluids (like chew wads of gum and spit in a bottle for an hour while you sweat in the sauna). This all plays right into Conor McGregor returning to the UFC and skipping the line for a title shot. When you REALLY think about the state of the division now… If Charles loses he won’t fight for a title for at least two fights. If he wins then Dana might make him fight again before a title shot as punishment for missing weight. Justin wins he get the title. He loses and he has to fight 1-2 more times to get another shot. Chandler and Tony won’t fight for a title regardless of who wins. Islam and Dariush still need to fight before Islam gets a shot, as per Dana. Porier is supposedly moving up to 170. Which brings us back to Gaethje and Oliveira… both have been open to fighting Conor. Why wouldn’t either of them want the money fight at this point? The UFC would have no problem inserting Conor either because it’ll sell PPVs. It’s crazy how this all lines up so conveniently for Conor lol. It would suck to see it imo but we could be seeing Conor fight for the title next. Only time will tell.

Praying this gives Charles a higher sense of hunger to win, and that it may not limit him in the fight. Expecting a crazy match between these two. 🙏

I was then watching the weigh-in show like 2 hours later and was wondering why they were still going and then they talked about him missing weight. I watched DC's reaction to this and it was pretty crazy. Never would have thought he would miss weight.
