@@Marlon_39 he has KO power, a nice left overhand, sometimes spinning backfists, great intercepting knees, and pretty consistent round house kicks to the body when he's on the offensive. I just think if Charles uses his striking tools better, Beneil will have a hard time and could get him clipped and Charles has fight ending power in his hands as well. Who pressures better will probably determine who wins. Beneil has good leg kicks, but Charles is great at checking leg kicks. Beneil should avoid the clinch against Charles because he was able to neutralise the boxing of Poirier who's an exceptional striker by initiating a clinch in some sequences. Beneil could probably try to challenge this by pinning Charles against the cage and be the attacker in the clinch.

I feel like we'll see something similar to Islam fight

@@onurhayr1937 Beneil is as composed as Islam but I think Islam is a more explosive and fundamentally sound striker than Beneil is. The only issue with Beneil taking Charles down like Islam did is that I don't think Beneil has the level of judo grappling Islam possesses. Islam's only 2 takedown came from an overhook when Charles came in and lost his base cuz his legs were out of position, the only other takedown was when Charles was pressing Islam against the fence and Islam waited for a harai goshi counter. I think shooting for singles and doubles against Charles isn't smart for Beneil since Charles has great guillotines and other front chokes. Khabib even acknowledge that danger and the takedowns Islam execyted weren't american style takedowns. Only reason Charles got dropped because he wanted end the fight quickly and got frustrated when Charles' teep kicks were getting waved off by Islam and he would try anything touch Islam as Beneil said in one interview. If Beneil can be defensively sound on the back foot against Charles, he could force Charles to make a mistake and Beneil can punish with his powerful hands.

@@2D_Stranger Composed, yes...but by personality, not by fighting tactics. Islam almost never go wild in his swings. He's mostly one-two and than back to his conservative, counter striking pose. Unless the opponents wants to keep violating that stances of his, by relentlessly coming at him, like what Charles did. Islam is purely tactical: I am going to win, yes, but I'm not doing a "It's either you or me going out right now" type of attitude. With Islam, it's always, I either get you clean, and take you down, or I punch you once in the face, and I back off. Benny, on the other hand, likes to engage in out and out brawls... once he gets going. It's either him or the other guy going down, however the going down goes. Charles also has that mentality. So, no, neither Charles nor Benny fights conservatively, tactically, and doing it ALL the time with discipline like Islam. What made Islam even more conservative was that one time KO loss he suffered in his 2nd fight at the UFC. From that, he knows that doing coin toss in MMA isn't the brightest idea, even if you're really good at some thing or others. Islam's attitude and approach is: I am so confident in my wrestling, in my Judo (different ways to get an opponent down, beyond just grabbing a leg or two or tackling them like GSP liked to do), and I am so confident in my BJJ, I don't need to push any opponent recklessly; I will let them swing first and then find the entry angle to dish out my own stuff, be it striking, kicking, a knee, or a take-down. In other words, given that ALL THREE are similarly skilled, from standing to clinch/grappling, to pure BJJ on the mat --- with Islam and Benny having the edge while standing and Charles having the edge once it is on the mat (assuming none is hurt while going down to the mat) ---- Islam's more patient, more tactical, and more LAYERED approach is the one that has the highest probability of achieving the belt and staying at the top longest. A bit more "boring," compare to the more risky styles/approaches of Charles and Benny, yes. But way safer, with higher positive results. In any case, I feel despite Benny's good ankle picks, he should stay up, given how good his wrestling and take down defense are. Just don't brawl and just don't go down (unless Charles is hurt). For Charles, I say, stop the jump kicks and the uber aggression. Just relax a bit; you have deadly Muay Thai, despite the lack of head movements like Islam has. Don't waste time clinching up against Benny, who is better in the wrestling and take down department. Only deal with it, if Benny forces a clinch or take down. It is YOUR FAVORITE territory anyway, if Benny wants to go down. Otherwise, use some freakin' feints and tactics and allow the other guy to swing hard, so you could, then, counter him! You have the height & range advantage!

The thing is though, other than Gaethje, that just isn't true. Lee happily entered Oliveira's guard to try and ground and pound him, Chandler went to the ground 3 times with Oliveira, twice of his own doing (the final being specifically after rocking him and spent 2 minutes trying to batter him in his guard), and same with Poirier, he twice went to the ground with Oliveira, once when he dropped him and once when he rolled to try to escape Oliveira grabbing his wrist. And Islam also did this. It's only Gaethje who didn't, so the myth that Charles' recent escaping defeat is down to his opponents not chasing him to the ground is just wrong, outside of Gaethje.

their BJJ is close (Charles is slightly better). their wrestling is close too(Dariush is slightly better), both of their chins are kind of sus too..Benny got KO'ed cold twice against Alex Hernandez and Barboza and Charles hits the deck every fight. it's a weird one.
