I'm a Buster Keaton fan. I think for comedy/gags, Keaton was better. Chaplin pushed things farther into pathos and managed to move more successfully into the talking era. They both were masters of their crafts (comedy/filmmaking) and I wouldn't kick either of them off my screen, but it's a matter of taste, and I prefer Stone Face flavor over Little Tramp.

The fact that he only ever revived an honorary Oscar gives hope to all film makers today, espetially comedic, that don't have the best reputation with critics. I honestly think that of modern comedic film makers the one most likely to be remembered as the Chaplin of our era is Seth Rogen. If you're a film geek you'll probably disagree whole heartedly, but terms of modern comedic cinema, he parallels Chaplin.

NOT critics/press/media who do the voting. TL:DR 1. chaplin has 3 awards from the academy of motion picture arts and sciences. 3! 2. rogen has yet to be proven as anything nearing chaplins genius. 3.
