It's time for some Midwest mayhem! The newly-formed South-East Missouri Combat Robotics group hosted their first tournament this past March, so Cheesecake and I met up with some friends in St. Louis and then headed on out to compete!

The tournament is a double elimination bracket. Each fight lasts 2 minutes. You win by disabling your opponent so they can no longer move. If your opponent cannot move, they will get counted out on a ten-second countdown. Even if they can only drive in circles, that is usually enough movement to avoid being counted out. If both robots are still moving at the end of the fight, then the winner is declared by a panel of judges, who score each robot on damage (done to the opponent) aggression (how much each robot initiates the engagements) and control (how much control you have over the fight). Drivers are allowed to tap out at any time during the fight. Drivers may also request one "unstick" if their robot is stuck on the arena.
