I was doing my research on mma mats... tile vs roll up... your point about the 2 inch thick flexi connect dollamur mats being useable by older folks for other disciplines (i plan on using the mats for muay thai / kbox pad work) like Judo is a really good point that I have missed.

"slick" mats can be slippery when wet but you're expected to wear shoes like sambo/wrestling (sambo are leather bottom wrestling are rubber so you get much more intense grip with wrestling shoes however this can be more dangerous especially with knee "folding" IE:kani basami) whereas martial arts mats are textured for grip (meant to be used barefoot) however they can produce some nasty Matt burn... personally I prefer textured, just wear some kneepads to mitigate the burn.
