It happened sometimes. Mulder and Scully were great partners but when they got together, they Lost their 'chemistry' or their bond or whatever... Same thing about "The Avengers" : John Steed can't marry any body. -- if it is more personal, their'd better divorce first then they would be free to live the life they choose.
