Imagine, Baku oil, which covers all expenses at least of Southern Caucasus, and it's the poorest city(country) of Southern Caucasus. People had to go to Georgia or Armenia to buy normal things. Attitude against us always was biased, it wasn't communism that made us such people. Throughout history, Azerbaijan had been a house for a lot of different religious groups, and we are really lucky about this :)

My wife's sister had a pretty good stint in Azerbaijan with the OSCE a half decade ago, she met many nice and hardworking people. It's certainly good when people today can put aside old history and old blood feuds, "no peace, no justice" I always say. We don't seem to understand that religion is a private matter and a personal choice, each of us should keep it to oneself, within the confines of our homes and places of worship, without causing anyone any inconvenience, anywhere, at all, and like you say, a nation can comprise of people following different religions!!!
