Between around 2015 ish to 2019 ish was peak animation meme community, at least for me. It just had some of the most iconic animation creators and memes and I have really fond memories of watching these videos. But then again nostalgia is definitely playing a part in this feeling because I was between the ages of ~8-12 during that time, and hell some of these animators got me into drawing which I think is the best thing this community has brought. Bringing new artists/animators to start exploring this medium. It certainly hasn’t always been perfect in this community, but these videos I will continue to look back on fondly

Me got me crying as well I remember watching those on repeat over and over again, also when I couldn't animate. I would improvise though in other ways, I would take paper and pencil then draw out the whole story board then take my camera, I would record while shaking to make it "cooler" while I filmed absolute violence on that piece of paper while humming a horrible version of the meme. I miss those days so much 🥺

@rynstrm. she's still around! she goes by synnibear03 and doesn't animate mlp related things anymore, but she does make short animations and memes with her own characters now :) and she does commentary vids now too

Even though some of us look back on it and cringe, I look back on it as an interesting time to have been a bit younger while on the internet. I always remember making up animation memes in my head and like ideas for them since I never had my own computer or animation program and I didn't have any social media to put it on. I still do miss this era at times and I'm glad that this community is still around. Even if it isn't as popular as it was before :')

I remember burnt rice being the very first meme that I watched. Followed by mine etc etc. There were such good times, Scotch, Yeager, Rosalie, Stariaat, Sir fluff, Mystery kinq, apselene, wolfychu, seelmaru and other animators. (The list is too long and I'm not sure if they still go by those names anymore) It literally went through many phases, the head bobbing, follow the original animation meme to Pkrussel's criticism to animators wanting to evolve more. I wonder what's been up lately, I'm in the dark about why most animators are inactive.

@LichypieRuu There's still a lot of great craters like sir fluff, unknown spy, crumb and floofel. I feel like it's not that the community got worse, it's that it's bigger and a bit more saturated with beginners and hobbies who want to make simple loops.

Reading these comments make me understand them but also disappointed. Animation memes from 2016-2019 was amazing. The nostalgia hits. But it’s not like animation memes are bad nowadays. It's nice seeing how far these animators gotten and how they paved the way for others to join (albeit, SOME are heavily inspired by other’s art styles and aren't original) There are really good current animations/animation memes. Even if they don’t give off the same nostalgia, there's nothing wrong with change

Woah, i never realized how long I've been in the animation community, and just how old some of the memes really are. A lot of these i knew about when i was like 5-6! It's really cool to look back and see just how far the community's come, and it always amazes me how i never noticed how old all of these are. I always thought the hot milk meme, or boom x4 was made s few months ago, then i look back and see just how old these memes are.

I feel like the good time of animation memes was around 2014-2017 because they were a form of self expression. Nowadays, people don't have self inserts that often, atleast not in animation memes. This is mostly caused by "cringe culture" and people not letting kids be kids. I say, if it isn't hurting anyone, why should they be ashamed of creating something they love?

I really felt cringe at the edge, but I don't understand why. this isn't me shitting on edge, this is me kind of wondering "_why_ do we actually not like edge as much?" especially when it can very well represent the emotional turmoil we are going through? maybe because other people said edge is cringe. and why do we find some edge cringe and others actually cool?
