I am a Buckeye fan and I was wrong. I had said that the only team that could beat Alabama was my beloved Buckeyes. Congrats to Clemson as I didn't give you the credit you deserved. Great job and great game. Congrats to all of the Clemson fans out there. Enjoy it. Now, something out of character for me that must be said: Now that we have seen the huge loss tonight coupled with Georgia's loss to a Texas team that really isn't among the elite teams in college football, can we finally open our eyes up wide enough to see that the SEC is not the best conference in college football? It seems like I am basing this on just 2 games but in all seriousness, 2 SEC teams in last year's CFP along with Georgia finishing just one spot out of the CFP (above my Buckeyes that won their conference and their bowl game) was just wrong. The CFP committee is proving year after year that they are NOT putting the best 4 teams in the playoff. Winning your conference should be a pre-requisite for making the playoff. Notre Dame has no conference so they didn't belong this year as well. My Buckeyes deserved to be in this year and last year but had no business being in the CFP following the 2016 season when Penn State won the Big Ten. I never wanted the playoff as I believe that putting the playoff teams in the hands of a dozen people is MUCH WORSE than using, for instance, the totals of 60+ people like in the AP poll or USA Today/Coaches Poll. The less people that we have voting on this, the bigger chance is that they get it wrong. If anything, the committee is showing NO CONSISTENCY in how the teams are picked each season and consistency in their picks should be the most important part of their job. If you do not win your conference or you happen to lose your last game of the season as Alabama did last season, you have no business being in the CFP. I know that many of you disagree but think about this for just a minute... Alabama got to raise the trophy for winning the CFP last season and they did it one state over from whete Georgia raised their flag for winning the SEC which Alabama is a part of. To make matters worse, just miles away, Auburn was putting up banners that said IRON BOWL CHAMPIONS on them. Alabama got into the playoff and won it last season after not even being able to win their own damn state. Sorry to those who disagree but I just feel that there has to be a better way. Notre Dame was not a better team than Ohio State this season. The playoff selection committee gets it wrong more than they get it right and only got it right in their first season. Again. Congratulations to Clemson and their fans. A big shout out to Texas too for showing the SEC for exactly what it is. What is that? OVERRATED! GO TIGERS. Enjoy it. Rant over and please do not respond. Just give a thumbs down if my words made no sense or seemed stupid. See all of you faithful fans next season. I didn't think the CFP selection committee got it right AGAIN but their job is exceptionally hard and this was another great year of college football once again.
