In the Hebrew text, her beauty was not once mentioned….. it has been posed that the Greek stressed it in order to avoid the responsibility of the fact that she was able to ‘take down’ so many men of power in the time. She was however written about in a way that stressed her knowledge and language skill that allowed her to communicate with all peoples that visited from around the World of her time! Amazing woman!

@@wckdaintgood 1. You misspelled "African". 2. Hamitic is an outdated and dumb theory made by white supremacists. Which is Ironic, as you called Cleopatra VII a "Hamitic, dark-skinned, black woman", this contradicts your claim of Cleopatra being a dark-skinned woman. 3. No, she wasn't dark-skinned African woman. Instead, she was a fair-skinned African woman. Also, she was a descendant of one of Alexander the great's generals, Ptolemy I Soter. Which means she was of Greek ancestry. Nice try kid, but please do not re-write history. There were far older dark-skinned Kings and Queens who ruled Kemet hundreds of years before Cleopatra VII, but you somehow missed those.

Greece and egypt have this beautiful love relationship that makes me emotional. I was actually reading the rosetta stone a few weeks ago (well, the greek part of it!) and i could understand so much of the text... Ancient Greece destroyed Egypt
@TayeOrisa2 роки тому
Well, the Greeco-Romans ruined the civilization
@gutar56752 роки тому
@@zyahshorter5256 No, it didn't. Egypt was already under foreign rule for hundreds of years. The Hyksos, Libyans, and Nubians ruled them for some time. Then they were forcefully conquered by the Assyrians and eventually by the Persian empire. When Alexander made his conquest of Persia, the Egyptians welcomed him and worshipped him as a god because they were sick of Persian rule. If we're going to say someone destroyed Egypt, there has to first be an explanation of what Egypt actually was and what it wasn't. There's an easy argument for saying that the true Egypt died when it was taken by the Assyrians or after the last native Egyptian Pharaoh before the Persian conquest. I'd say the latter is pretty compelling. Another good argument is that the Roman conquest of Augustus is what destroyed Egypt. Either way, you cannot say that Greece is what did Egypt in

when people say Cleopatra, Nefertiti and other queens who were known to exceptionally beautiful at the time, but in today's day and age would be considered average looking, Beauty standards change. The idea of beauty varies with time, culture and place. Also they are royalty, so they would have been able to have access and afford a lot of jewellery and must have people who would've done what we call makeup today. Which a lot of common people at the time wouldn't have been able to afford or have access to, so seeing someone all dressed up in ancient Egyptian designer clothes and jewellery, would made her beautiful for them.
@Flatbush21rst2 роки тому
You know now that you say that, you’re right. Didn’t even think about that. Especially when you put into factors, the class system they were in, which an autocrat would be able to keep themselves up versus the average peasant, demographic, etc. In today’s time, shoe would be average. Nice insight

I'm Egyptian, A COPTIC CHRISTIAN EGYPTIAN, I shout that out loud because we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there and that's not only my opinion that's what Egyptologists, Historians and Scientists also agreed on , and I tell you that every word that Bassem Youssef said is right and I totally agree with him. Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like for example: Greeks, Romans and Arabs, but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(from Assiut to Aswan), Although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian Ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost a 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like? With all due respect for all the Black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Israelites or Nubians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or Italians or Germans or British or Turkish or Ukrainians, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Levants or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans. Dude, Cleopatras family married their brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, not just cousins, and I believe at some point her grandpa/dad married one of his own daughters. The Ptolemy bloodline was pure, lol, and they didn't have a family "tree" per say. More like a straight line almost. But that's not to say that she is iconic. People all around the world talk about her to this very day, and she is spoken with high regard and much admiration. If it weren't for Octavious's tyranny she would have ruled Alexandria and the Roman Empire, and he KNEW it! I have my own speculations as well. I wonder if Octavious tried to shoot his shot at her and was denied? That could explain why he was so determined to take her down? Just my 2 cents.

@@haveagreatday8248 I was correcting your use of the word Mythology in place of history. And thank you(about loving my name🤗) I'm flattered😊 It's not familiar to you because I'm Kenyan from a tribe called Kikuyu. I don't know if you're familiar with my country. 😊 It's in East Africa.😌 Even though, it's still rare even here in Kenya. So I get that a lot😂😂

I think the story of Romeo and Juliet was inspired by Anthony and Cleopatra, especially how they died.
@mikelheron20Рік тому
The stories have almost nothing in common - not even the way the protagonists died. Juliet stabbed herself - Cleopatra poisoned by an asp; Romeo took poison - Antony fell on his sword. I think you may find that the play inspired by the deaths of Antony and Cleopatra was Antony and Cleopatra.

I believe Romeo and Juliet was inspired by D.Pedro and Inês de Castro .

Cleopatra is fr Ptolemaic dynasty, a Macedonian royal that ruled Egypt. Could people confused Cleopatra from Isis, whos skin tone might be dark?

Just because Cleopatra had a big nose. doesn't mean shes not beautiful . Small noses are eruopeon ideas of beauty.

Interesting. In the very first illustration of Cleopatra in your video, the face really resembles that of Claudette Colbert, an actress who starred as Cleopatra in the very good 1934 movie.

I have a second opinion. There is much evidence to support even the coins presented in the document do not reflect her true visage. Could it be the less precise tools for minting currency of ancient times? Cleo was in fact one of the first women of power to immolate her feminist qualities like that of a man or utilize prominent facial features to emulate her power-such as a distinct chin or nose. If you look at some of the illustrations from other great people in power such as Charlemagne or Nero or even Mary Queen of Scotts, Impressionism( incorrect time period, I know) and power were two blended assets to articulating authority through out the world.

Hatshepsut did downplayed her female attributes in order to hold on to the Pharoah title which was usually reserved for men. Cleopatra here tried to make herself look more masculine, hence more authoritative?
