14 днів томуThe Cleveland Cavaliers lead the Orlando Magic 2-1 after 3 games of their first round, Eastern Conference NBA Playoff matchup.
Donovan Mitchell & Jarrett Allen played a great first half in game 4, helping the Cavs take a 9-point lead into the halftime break.
But in the third quarter, the Magic, led by Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, came roaring back. Wagner outscored the Cavs in the third quarter by himself, 12-10, as the Magic won the quarter 37-10 to take an 18-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Jalen Suggs was also a menace, controlling both ends of the court.
Barring a crazy fourth quarter comeback, the Cavs will head back to Cleveland with the series tied 2-2.

Another thing people don’t realize is the starting lineup Magic played in games 1 and 2 only started 1 game together in the whole 82 games season. The lineup they are playing now is the familiar rotation and lineup for the players

Cleveland won the first two games because they used a gameplan Orlando was not ready for, but in Game 3 Orlando figured it out, and in game 4 showed that Cleveland lacks the ability to adjust their gameplan against ORL. Ive been watching the NBA for 30 years and whenever a team gets blown out 2 games in a row in the playoffs that destroys a teams overall confidence and they usually lose the series unable to recover even if they went up a game or 2. I remember my own Orlando Magic win 3 games against the Celtics in the ECF and then lose the series after Boston blew them out twice because they were unable to recover. This happens in the NBA, the Magic are the beneficiaries this time.

Magic fan here, not to gloat but to see the opponents perspective. My biggest takeaway is that everyone, not just Cleveland, hasn’t watched Orlando at all and absolutely underestimated the Magic all year long. Scary part is we’re not supposed to be ready to contend until 2026-2027ish.

They were trying to avoid Philly or Miami when they tanked that game. NY was down to Chicago and a win with a Knicks loss would have been the 2 seed. NY ended up winning in OT so it ended up being that even if the Cavs won they would have been the 3 seed. But they didn’t know at the time.

I said Magic in 5 and by the looks of things, its gonna take 1 more game.. Cavs cant compete with physical teams, theyre soft, theyve always been soft. The Magic have taller players that can shoot when theyre on their game. They couldnt hit the backside of a barn in games 1 and 2, but seem to have found their stride.. Better players doesnt always mean theyll win a series every time. The magic want it more, theyre out husting, physically outmatching, making more 3's, and just dominating on the boards.

Btw his old teammate Joe ingles said this magic group is one of the best groups he's been around. And Joe was on that utah team with Mitchell that went 52-20 in 2021. It (only 72 games that year). Mitchell is taking is talents to the big apple. That should be extremely fun with him and Brunson trying to out-shoot one another. There's not enough balls and shots in one game for those two on the same team. I don't see it working out.

I’ve said this since Cavs lost the playin to the Hawks. They play their worst basketball when it matters most. I think Coach Bick. Is a good x and o’s. But he doesn’t seem to hold them accountable for rebounds and playing with more aggression. He’s a good teacher. But you don’t teach aggression you have to train it. They consistently don’t block out, lose 50/50 balls, and show overall toughness

The Cavs lack that LEGIT 1-2 punch. Is it Garland? Is it Mobley? Cuz to me it seems like Jared Allen, and that NEVER was the plan or design! Even Orlando, has a ESTABLISHED 1-2 punch, albeit unconventional, Banchero and Wagner but AT LEAST it’s consistent. The Cavs have no consistency. Sorry but Coaching is a HUGE issue here

Continually being outrebounded by 20 points is why the Knicks removed this team from the playoffs last year and they did the same in the regular season. If they can't figure out how to play with a bit more heart (if not more strength) or make up for that lack with better defensive team play against Orlando, JB can pack his bags along with half these players.

In March it was the top team in the east, Boston, top team in the west, okc, and the magic. The only 3 teams in the league that hadn't loss a game at home to a team with a below .500 record. Boston ended up losing to Atlanta at home. So by time the season ended it was just okc and orlando that hadn't loss at home all yr to a below .500 team. okc and orlando the 3rd and 4th youngest teams in the league, btw. And this guy above claiming orlando sucks at home.. he must not have seen that video of Kevin Garrett on his podcast talking about, "you can't get a win in orlando right now, you go to orlando messing around, orlando will blow you tf out." That quote was from earlier this year. It still rings true.

Cavs just aren't good enough to make any noise in the playoffs. JB is a mediocre starter coach at best that can't take a team to the next level. I been saying this for a while now, the cavs jumped the gun when they traded for Mitchell before they knew exactly what they had in Mobley and Garland. Mitchell would be a good final piece of the puzzle for a team with and established superstar and some good role players that just needs one more star to compliment what they've already built. The cavs were not in that position when they got Mitchell. He will never be the best player on a championship team, period. They should've kept Markkenan and allowed mobley and garland to continue to develop. They rushed the process and it backfired. Now they're gonna have to blow it all up in the offseason and start over.

That's exactly why they should've let the young team continue to develop. But they were in a hurry to get back to relevancy so they thought they could fast forward the process by getting Mitchell but it doesn't work that way. Cavs front office gor impatient and jumped on the opportunity to bring in a star before the team and the coaching staff was ready for that.

Magic bench was winning games for this team whole season they might not be SCARY individually but as a unit they have kicked other teams ass many times. Let see how Magic will look in game 5 but its bit the same team coming in as in frist two games. Suggs will defend Mitchell, and Isaac will come of the bench and be more of the perimeter defender rather than fighting with Mobley and Allen around the basket. If they wont go extra cold shooting the ball they should steal this game. They also should be aware that playing game 7 in Cleveland would be extremely hard.

"Do any of those guys off the bench scare you?" I mean, Mo Wagner has been one of the most efficient scoring bigs in the league, starter or bench, since he joined the Magic. He's like 90th percentile, top 10% of ALL players offensively. He's just not nearly good enough defensively. That guy should definitely scare you as a scorer off the bench. But again, a total lack of preparation by you when it came to the Magic.

You Americans always hype the "superstars", like this is a game of chess or "world of warcraft". Fill the team with a lot of stars and that will equate into winning. Really? I has always been team effort, that won games. So you shut Paolo down? Yes, well done. And that effort opened up the rest of the opponent. And you can keep rambling as much and long a you like, but why not name the reality. Orlando played as a team and Cleveland lost that in the second half. Also Orlando lost the first two games and that hurt. It's easier to play over hurt than stumbling into hurt, after soaring sky high!

You can say Cavs defense was great games 1 and 2 and yet Magic lost by not that much. We severely underestimated the Magic. This is why I hated when we tanked that last game. We might’ve been better off playing against an injured Embiid with our bigs.

Roster makeup is not good. JB is questionable. The Magic starters(all 5) are bigger than Cavs. Mitchell and Garland are both small. You cannot have both be short. Strus is a guard playing at SF. Even if they win home games, Celtics sweep em. Season over.

Basically the Cavs aren't a trusted Playoff Team.. When you throw a easy game in the Post Season because you're afraid to play against the best.. Determined you don't have faith to be in the Playoffs and beat the better teams. As some stated it was probably a move to save someone's job. Knowing they'll probably be ousted in the 1st round.... if they went against NY...Celtics...or 76ers..

The nba has become a tough business. When you win your fans loves you, but when you lose they disown you and immediately starts the fire the coach talks. Game 1 in the comments had cavs fans talking about going all the way to the finals based on one win. That's cavs fans own fault for believing a couple good games means the team is ready to conquer the league. There's levels to this. Teams battle and come up short for years before they raise that trophy. You need a solid bench, good chemistry, defense, a real culture within the organizations, guys have to master their roles and be excellent within their roles most nights. These things dont happen in one yr in most cases. Anyone thinking that way is setting themselves up for disappointment.

I said this after game 1&2 and it’s proven to be true: Cavs can’t score because Orlando has a top 3 defense. Orlando can’t score because we are the worst shooting team in the league. What I mean is that Orlando wasn’t missing shots in games 1&2 due to Cleveland’s defense (I mean, yall packed the paint, so I guess that counts as defense). But Cleveland dared Orlando to shoot and we were missing wide open shots. 95% of Orlando’s shots in games 1&2 were considered either open or wide open. We just couldn’t hit. Games 3&4, Orlando didn’t go off on a shooting bender. We just hit our season averages. Not even league averages. Just our season averages. And it was enough. But Cleveland still hasn’t proven that they’re able to consistently beat our defense. Pressure is squarely on yall for game 5. I’m loving this.

JB bares some blame, but the players they signed to score and shoot 3's. he's stuck with 7 players, when it starts going bad why not bring in Morris, Sam Merriel, and Thompson, can they do any worse than Strus, and Neg? and Lavert, 5, 2 and 7 points between them. Why did the sign Strus? to score points, Cav's are mind beaten, the coach cannot make a new plan B, and he cannot make adjustments, while the other team does, and comes out with a 27-10 run, did not improve in the 2nd quarter and that is on JB not making changes, he loves his top 7 players the rest sit even as the ship is sinking. He sticks with the players who are not helping. If they win in Cleveland that will be a good surprise. Plan for the Cavs is beat the hell out of Garland and Mitchell and the game is a win, 2 small guards should not be the players you depend on to score 2-30 each.

I still have Cavaliers in 7, but they will need to stop trying to be tough and knock down shots. I'm a little surprised the Magic have 10 more threes than the Cavs but don't expect that trend to continue. I do think the Magic will continue to dominate the boards, the defense and the bench, despite what we saw in games 1 & 2. Magic will not lose game 6, so Cavaliers are on thin ice.

Magic, 3rd best scoring bench in the league, magic 3rd best defense, but best defense after all star break. Magic lead the league in holding teams under a 100 pts. Some of the things you are counting out are standard for the magic. Like the defense isn't a fluke. If you don't play defense in orlando, you don't get on the court. It's been that way since last season.

Matthew and Corey, I agree with you. I have been telling people that despite a couple of slumps, Franz is a great shooter. Paolo, Suggs and JI have all improved their 3 point shooting. The Magic also lead the league in opponent 3 pt %, so they really are not getting outshot by opponents. I still think Cleveland has more players who can get red hot but they aren't doing it yet.

In fairness, the Cavs were one miracle LeBron 3 away from getting swept that series. They won game 5 but no LeBron 3 there would have been no game 5. That series is so underrated as a Magic legendary beat-down. Cleveland had all the hype, and Orlando swept in and beat their brains out. Cavs had ZERO answer for Dwight surrounded by snipers.

JB is terrible at in game and in series adjustments. This Cavs team looks mentally defeated. This is what happens when you lose your last regular season game on purpose to try and pick an "easier" opponent. Organization has a loser mentality. Hoping they can squeeze out two wins I Cleveland. No way are we beating them in Orlando. Wouldn't be surprised though that they just fold and lose the series in 6.

JB and his 8 man is flawed and he never adjusted off of it. , DG & strus need to be first out, for LeVert and Merrill (temp check) 5-7 mins into game After 3 minutes you sub Merrill out for okoro , bring in morris for Allen. Mitch , LeVert , okoro , morris , Mobley End of quarter Then bring DG, strus, okoro, morris, tt Next sub bring in Allen for morris Then get niang in for TT. Bring in Mitch , LeVert and Merrill to pair with niang and Allen. Finish second with Mitch , dg, okoro , mobley Allen I could go on
