Today doesn't start out on the best foot. We have a leak in the power house where all our solar components are housed and we need to fix it fast. The goal for today is to start closing in the underside of our front deck. We are working towards covering this area as well as the concrete foundation of the house with stone.
Shop Our Apparel: www.bunkerbranding.com/pages/...
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

If someone had told me a year ago, that I would, as a 60 year old man, be avidly waiting every week, to watch a couple I don't know, build their home. I would have gone....yeah right!!! But here I am, week after week waiting to watch, from beginning to end. I love watching you guys, watching your family grow, learning new things. Laughing with you and being amazed with your efforts and journey. Thank you so much for sharing your dream....cheers from the UK.

Steve, isn't it amazing how much joy we can get from watching people achieve their goals and dreams. I find channels like this, far more entertaining than any TV show. Real people, real problems, real life, but living the dream!! I watch a lot of sailing channels also, but I don't sail, anymore than I live off grid. Pennsylvania, USA.

Where to begin; This video was one of, if not the best YT video of a family homestead that I've ever watched. I subscribe to over 70 channels and with some I slide past parts of the video because of boredom with what they are showing or because it is so repetitive. I watch your installments from beginning to end every time. This one was so beautifully put together. It was touching, funny, loving, warmly felt, educational, inspirational and just so cute at times. I could go on and on. Oh, and now I know what I need to give my son in his tool box from Dad when he leaves home. A pare of channel locks and a hammer. Thats it! No set of wrenches or other tools. Well, maybe a tape measure too.

These guy focus more for what they ‘need’ than what they ‘want’, except maybe a different colour choice because Erin didn’t like the first one ;)

Beware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again. After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way. A couple dreaming of being debt free, come up with a plan that fills them with glee. They will buy some land and live off-grid, even if their phones they must first get rid. Some family members thought they were mad, but these guys will build a cool country pad. With debts paid off they headed out in search, for that unicorn place for their family to perch. Seventy three acres of land with great views, local minister hoped it was five more for the pews. Sorry padre they have nothing to confess, this close-knit family are doing what’s best. A new chapter for this tribe begins, and working hard is never a sin. Their plan will involve first making a mess, and Sundays won’t be a day of rest. With children, pets and temporary accommodation, others might be filled with much trepidation. But these guys display such enviable motivation, full of love, energy and self-determination. Fresh water and sceptic were first on the list, hurry up Josh otherwise Erin will be...well you get the gist. From one task to another they often flit, rarely do they have the time to idly sit. Erin and Josh are like yin and yang, with their three kids they make one hell of a gang. No time to transition to their new space, the RV served only to give them grace. Thankfully this family love the outdoors, and knows the importance of an occasional pause. Viewers get to watch this family and home grow, whatever the weather, come rain, sleet or snow. Cash is king and debt-free is their dream, even discounted shipping will make Erin beam. Josh worked as an electrician to bring in the coin, and Erin works the farm to produce the loin. Two long hours he drove to work and back, But Josh still had energy for a joke to crack. Keeping up with Erin’s humor isn’t always easy, but another muffin in Josh’s tummy he can squeezy. With solar panels up and trenches dug, there is always time to share a loving hug. Their sense of achievement is clear for all to see, lucky for Josh he once got down on bended knee. Joking and teasing may be part of the entertainment, just as important as the farm is to their sustainment. Both Erin and Josh have a competitive nature, yet despite long days always find time to nurture. Cattle to feed and children to home school, Josh dig’s a big hole out back and jokes “it’s a pool!” Concrete is poured and pillars are raised, Erin is always there to give proud praise. Videos of their progress provide all the proof, even a clip of poor Josh straddling that pitched roof. Digging ditches and hands covered in black soot, Erin wearing boots helps avoids another nail in the foot! Riding quads or swimming in rivers, this ‘Wonderful’ channel really delivers. Helmets on with kids strapped in the back, these guys zoom down a leaf covered track. Josh at the wheel with Erin at his side, across the ground the Kawasaki does glide. Screaming with excitement as they go fast, their kids are happy and having a blast. There are more beating hearts including the hogs, a variety of cattle, cats, as well as some dogs. Apparently old Chucky loves a slice of jerky, but he’s hanging out for Thanksgiving and some turkey. Then there is Frank’s from ‘The Men in Black’, his job is to get ‘The Light of Zartha’ back. Caring for their animals is par for the course, maybe one day they’ll build stables for a horse. A horse can be useful and a backup for the tractor, the propane heater was backup heating for thier nuclear reactor. The power house is huge and full of tech toys, it could also be a spare room for bad little boys...Josh. They aren’t carpenters or dry waller’s so they say, and sometimes their jobs aren’t completed that day. But progress they make and the house is looking shmick, built out of wood glass and metal, with no sign of a brick. They started out filming with just a cheap phone, uploading progress each week of their forever home. Editing content videos takes up a lot of time, from those early clips, they are now sublime. From amateur to professional video bell, I’ll steal Josh’s words and say to Erin, “good girl”. “Don’t patronise me” as Erin has been heard to say, well heck girl...those Wonderful videos get better each day!

Don't worry about it. You just did not think it through. You meant well and you feel horrible about what happened. You learned your lesson. I am just happy you did not get hurt. You will never make this mistake again, right?" I particularly enjoyed how genuinely interested your two boys were in what you were doing, and how they just sucked all that knowledge in. Having a father like Josh that knows so many different things and if he doesn’t know something he will find out how it’s done. That’s awesome! Having a mom that gets in and helps her husband and learns different things will show your children that women can do anything they put their mind to. Children watch and listen to more than we think they do and you are raising your children right because you talk to them and show them how to do things. My dad is one of those men that knows a lot and he showed me and my brother so many different things growing up. I still call him when something breaks. 😂 Stay safe God Bless🙏🏻

Not a big deal when something breaks as long as Josh is around to repair it. Very skilled man. It’s definitely a plus to show the boys how to fix problems.

Gandhi is quoted as saying “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. I believe this can be applied to the greatness of a family. When we see how the animals are at your home Leon, Chuckie, the chickens, turkeys, Frank, and the others you clearly have a home ruled by love and compassion. The animals display such trust and comfort with you and your children, they are a clear reflection of their environment. Whether it is Leon photobombing, the turkeys being lulled to sleep with readings fro Ellie, the dogs running with your boys, or the chickens not even flinching as you walk or drive by. I just wonder, since it seems so natural to your family, whether you realize how rare and special it truly is. The two of you have given your children the greatest legacy possible….happy memories.

It is absolutely amazing to watch you guys work together and to teach the boys a very valuable lesson. There are so many parents out there nowadays that would result to screaming and yelling. Instead, you guys do it right and teach them how to fix their mistake. That is becoming a lost art of teaching kids with hands on. It is always such a relaxing, interesting, and learning watch to watch you guys build this dream house. Keep up the awesome work.

Those Square D pressure switches are usually really reliable, just not designed to be stood on . Maybe a guard over it for protection and a step would be child proof 🤔

Thinking alike, maybe a plastic milk crate notched to fit around plumbing and switches with 4 short 2x4's screwed into corners to reinforce crate for WHEN somebody steps on the crate ?

the length of the refrig lines for the unit is a bid deal, check for max distance first before you set the new pad location. Having owned several of those split systems in the past I've learned that lesson. Good Luck, and keep going!
@Aussieuke
@Aussieuke 2 роки тому
Since the lines are premade with rupture connections any unrolling of the remaining coiled loop is going to be a problem. Lines need to be laid out 'with the roll' as against rolled out like when taking the string from within a rope which imparts a twist into the string(or pipe in this case). Copper can take only so much twisting before it crimps. Yes, you can take a risk of pumping down the refrigerant into the condenser section and then disconnecting the line (then unrolling the remainder of the coil) but unless you happen to have a vac pump in your electrical toolbox you then need to use a technician to come out and evac the line before recharging with the predetermined remaining charge. Taking a gamble that the line is sealed and not sucking in air or doing a 'cheeky' purge is gambling with the unit efficiency and longevity. Maybe a careful readjustment of the remaining line back under the deck, leaving the unit where it is and then some cosmetic covers for the section coming down to the deck is the way to go.
