Some dumb idea in non-US versions, apparently. Really shouldn't be allowed because it takes away from the spirit of the show: only being able to press your button when your back is turned to the contestant. The coaches shouldn't be able to block with any more information than the voice itself.

The aim of the game is to win is it not? Jess is a fantastic coach and she fought to have that girl. Jess took out the one person to make the playing field even for the other coaches not just herself! That girl could've chosen Rita or Guy if she wanted too so obviously she picked Jess for a reason.

Okay but the other singer beat her fair and square in the battle... there's literally no guarantee the outcome would've been different if that girl was on Keith's team. It's not like that girl was targeted, she just lost the battle because the other person had what Jess was looking for more than that girl.

It’s honestly not for us it’s for the show it just makes it more interesting and people watch more it’s just a marketing tool they use. If someone get block people talk about the show more. Aka us right now lol

It makes the show more interesting although I agree it hurts the contestant

People have to understand that The Voice isn't only a competition between contestants but also between coaches, hence the Block. Moreover, there are four coaches which are of the same worth, being gutted about a coach being blocked is quite insulting for the other three imo

It doesn't work that way in the USA. They block before the chair is turned. Blocking after the chair is turned is mean & shows jealousy.

You literally watched a video of the "most brutal blocks"... these are the rudest blocks. The other blocks aren't this mean. It provides more entertainment and gets people talking about it

@@vebyh2060 That said, it takes both bad developers and bad judges to make situations like this happen. That doesn't bode well for a show when you have that combination. You'd think that at least one of the two would have enough commonsense to either make rules preventing things that piss off your audience or judges that know that there are unwritten rules that stop them from pissing off their audience. It doesn't bode well for a show to have such poorly written rules and judges that are this stunningly stupid.

@@AMD64EVER This show is for entertainment though, the blocks provide that extra level of entertainment to the viewers. If a contestant wants a certain judge, they shouldn't make it extremely obvious in the first place because that's how you get your first pick blocked anyways. If you roll up and sing a song about one of the judges/sing a judge's song its evident that's your first pick and that's always how contestants ruin their chances by themselves. The contestants shouldn't be focusing too hard on what judge they want, they should be focused on winning; it is a competition after all.

@@vebyh2060 I feel like if we were to implement rules in other entertainment shows that allowed judges or hosts to knee cap contestants in an entertaining yet sadistic way, you might take offense to that. I'm guessing if this rule didn't currently exist in The Voice that you'd even be opposed to it. You simply defend it because it is already here, not because it is a good idea. If you did think it was a good idea then give me an example of another show where you wish something like this could be implemented and it would make the show better. My guess is you'll be unable to because you normally don't want to see judges or hosts intentionally knee cap contestants. You'd rather see the contestants being allowed to play the game unimpeded rather than being taken down by things that make no sense. Literally the idea of the show is The Voice, not The Judges or The Blocks. They should have NOTHING to do except their one job which is to judge the voice. I mean, as much as I'd love to see a referee in the NFL suddenly jump out and tackle someone, I feel like the game is probably better with them simply being referees and not part time refs, part time players.

@@AMD64EVER So, firstly, I enjoy the idea of blocks. Have since they were implemented. I don't like them because they're "already in the show" I like them because it's dramatic. What I really enjoy most is saves in the voice but I haven't seen much of that anyways. I think you're making it sound a lot worse than it actually is, every judge is good otherwise they wouldn't be on the show. If the judges weren't also playing the game then the show would turn into a singing Got Talent would it not? The voice already is that, but with these additional things like blocks, saves, and battle rounds it provides more entertainment to viewers, and gets people talking about the show. That's the whole point of these entertainment shows, you need to keep the viewers on their toes. Would you also argue its unfair that Got Talent shows have a golden buzzer since that's not fair for other contestants to see those people get all the way to the live shows without having to go through additional stuff like someone who didn't get the buzzer? Nah. Personally, I believe if you sign up for this you should know stuff about all the coaches on the panel and be mentally prepared to pick someone who might've not been your first choice. How many people in this show have auditioned and only had one or two chairs turn and it wasn't their pick in their head? Probably tons. Also comparing a block to a tackle in a physical game is kinda overkill, since no one is getting physically hurt in the Voice when their judge is blocked.
