As blind woman, yes! All of these things. I get ask about all of these all the time. Or sighties try to tell me how it is.😂 And before anyone asks, blind people can use the internet! It's screenreader software.

I'm not blind but I can't see anything clearly if I take my glasses off. I just see a gigantic blur with a couple nebulous colors. When I first got married and my wife and I were still kind of getting to know each other, she couldn't figure out why I wouldn't look at her sometimes when we were talking. Finally she asked me why I sometimes wouldn't make eye contact when we were talking. It was the first time that I realized when my glasses were off, I tend to just stare at the ceiling or into space. I couldn't see anything so I didn't make an effort to look at anything. But I think the difference with what she said about totally blind people moving their head to look at the person speaking is that my eyesight would "turn on" or "turn off" depending on when I had my glasses on. So I never got into the habit of looking at someone when they were speaking even when I couldn't see them... We've been married 25 years and I still don't look at her when I have my glasses off and she's talking to me. I can't break the habit! 🤷‍♂️

I remember my first interaction with a blind person as a kid. I tried to show her that I learned to tie my shoes (I was proud of myself and telling everyone). My mom leaned down & whispered she’s blind. So I yelled, I JUST LEARNED TO TIE MY SHOES! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I have a buddy whose blind, and he doesn’t let haters stop him. He’s a inspirational person. He has also been on my cities local news because he became the first blind person in my school.

A lot of people ask my ex fiancé who is blind “how do you get dressed”. Like seriously. The only issue was on occasion he wore weird shirts to work, like his “I pooped today” shirt or his ugly Christmas sweater in summer that has a picture of grumpy cat that says “ you gift is in the litter box”. The only good thing is he works at a company that primarily only hires blind / visually impaired workers, so most could not see what he was wearing except his hire ups, and machine maintenance workers

I have never made any of these assumptions about anyone that is blind or deaf. It's crazy that people do make these assumptions. Especially the sex part. Why would a blind person not enjoy sex. That's ridiculous.

Hi :) One very stupid thing is hat I've round is that some people think I don't exist. A waitress at a restaurant once asked my brother what I wanted to eat after taking his order. Pat started to get up and leave. I said, "It's okay, she's probably never met a legally blind person before". I then ordered the ravioli with shrimp, which was really good btw :) Some people think I'm dead too. An acquaintance once raised her voice at me because I was thinking about what she said. I said, " Let me think, I'm not deaf, y'know". She said, "you must be deaf if you don't hear what I say". I saud, " I hear you. I just don't want to reply sometimes".

It would be nice if production companies would actually speak to people have have site issues to get things correct. They uses others for input for things.

Blind Arya, Daredevil, Eli (from the Book of Eli), Geordi La Forge, the Blind Man (Don't Breathe), Blind Al (Deadpool) and Nick Parker (Blind Fury) "takes away from the fact of their being a normal blind person". Yeah, like Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Superman, The Avengers, etc., etc. takes away from the fact of being a normal person too. Isn't that the whole point?

So bear with me so i can explain. The only person ive ever truly hated was a blind man(ben). Not because he was blind im a big advocate against ablism my best friend(megan) is in a wheelchair. The reason i hated him was because he is by far the most manipulative person ive ever met. He uses his blindness to try and control people. He was my now ex boyfriends(chris) ex. He still wanted to be with my ex and tried to get me to be in a throuple. I said absolutely not. Nothing against poly people but im not. Strictly monogamous. Since i wouldn't budge(im very stubborn) he manipulated my best friend of 4 years(kasandra the one in the wheelchair she became my best friend after this incident) into betraying me she got my ex to break up with me so the three of them could be in a throuple. Since ben couldn't get me to be in a throuple with Chris he found someone who would. That is only one layer of what i call the love web. I think there were somewhere around 8 or 9 people involved.

Yes cause if you stare blank they’re convinced you’re blind . If you try to see they think you’re faking. You know what peeves me? People who see me coming with my cane and they’re standing there talking and refuse to move so I have to go around them . Then I hit them with my cane and they think I’m the mean one

I try my best to zhow my best side my humorous side but pple need to realise we trained to identify and get around things places im both visual impaired annd it a conflict as i dont like being touched lost count how many times dragged across the road i try tell pple just ask how i like to be lead i prefer verbal commands i go to the shops they will say yes its over there or follow me were did you go cars parking over crossings scared to death when on busy roads with no crossing advertisement boards outside shops on pavement zig zagged try use the wall as guide imposible bus that just drive past u i could go on so i stay home

I think people can figure out what it's like simply by trying to live blind. I don't know why but I like to challenge myself to do things in the dark with my eyes closed just to see how screwed I'd be if I lost my sight

Blind people don't have super powers it's just rest of the sences make up for the lack of lost sence. It would be same for a deaf person. Other sences take up the slack so to speak
