(County Attorney, decades ago) When the law had changed giving possible relief to a man he had prosecuted he helped the man by directly informing him (in prison) by mail of the potential relief that had become available through a new change in the law. . (Even though the man was rightly found guilty under the law at the time of conviction.) That ended up helping the man to get out of prison. That is a 180º difference from what Harris did with a person on death row. I was a child support attorney, in some ways like a prosecutor. I would never, at any point, have intentionally withheld significant evidence helpful to a “defendant”. But then I wasn’t THAT ambitious. Nor would I have hooked up with Willie Brown or anyone else and used that (intimate) connection to promote my career. Nor would I have prosecuted the minnows while letting the sharks rule the waters. Nor would I have selected or “overlooked” cases for “prosecution” based on political consequences, campaign contributions, or personal benefits. (Nor given personal benefits for political considerations.) There are a number of reasons why Harris did not last long in the primaries as a presidential candidate, and there are reasons why most people have still not learned much about her. Even though, IF Biden is inaugurated she will be more likely than not to become president. If any Republican with a serious chance of becoming president had a record including the “questionable” things that Harris did in California we would all have heard a LOT more about it. Yes I am confident that I, and millions of others, would make better decisions for the country than what Harris’s record implies.. But there is no point arguing about hypotheticals or the future: 1. People change. No one has to be imprisoned by the past 2. A number of Supreme Court Justices have not gone the way expected, 3. The election is not certified and is still contested in a few key states. (See “Profiles in Corruption””)
