Era? It was like 3 good wins... Aldo, mendes, and alverez.. you casuals really trip out.. yall like to say holloway, and poirier... Those dudes were green af then... Nothing to what they became . They look completley different and cant be considered era material..not at the time he beat them... Hell even medes was short notice.. medes ran outta gas due to that ... Lets be real here.. conor has a handful of credible wins... Ill count mendes. But aldo, alverez. And even if you count holloway and poirier , which you shouldnt, that 4 credible wins in the ufc...

I will never understand why Conor went away from his insanely unpredictable style of mixing in kicks, knees, elbows, spinning attacks out of nowhere, mixing in a take down here and there, giving you so much to worry about and then boom hits you with the deadly left hand to put you away with one shot. I understand the competition wasn't as good back then but his attacks were so effective and entertaining and he used to give his opponents so much to worry about... and then gradually over time it just seems like he only relied on his left hand and a few teep kicks to keep his opponents at range. And yes i know that worked for him very well at featherweight but eventually his game became so predictable and he never adapted to the evolution of the game, all he does now is rely on his left hand to hopefully catch someone. Aside from the money and fame, just looking at conor as a fighter, I'm very disappointed in how he just basically became a boxer with 4oz gloves on. He still brings the fight every time and never has a boring bout, but I really wish he kept his unpredictable style from when he was younger... is his coaching to blame?

Kinda think training for Floyd screwed his style up long term unfortunately, with that said I don’t think he’s washed by any means. He’s been fighting the best of the best (Cowboy aside), if they could get him back to his style around the Eddie fight, he could stick around the top for a little while longer. Although, he may just do big money fights going forward

Ok, let me help you understand. Ypu are a world class athlete, with several KO victories. You get run down by Nate Diaz at a weight class you've never fought at..... and now all the sudden, you are a tap machine. Every single fan that ISN'T supporting you, now says you have a cardio issue. People like Joe Rogan having guests on his show like Firas Zihabi, who say you CAN'T fight any other way. Fast Twitch muscles this, can't make it past round 2 that. Every single person, fan and media outlet, all say you have a cardio problem. Then you run out of steam against Floyd. The narrative continues. Do you think. At any point, Conor was desperate to be known as a 5 round warrior? Even the man who can shake off any trash talk, do you think he may have been desperate enough to change the narrative, thatbhe changes his style as well ? It's easy to fan in love with one aspect of MMA. BJJ guys get obsessed with striking, or a wrestler gets a KO so now he's a KO artist. Kickers like to box.... Conor changed from pressure, time, age, hus body changing, and out of a desire to win. He wanted to be the guy that can finish you in round 1, or last through round 5. The conserved, big hits show that.

Anderson silva was doing it before Conor mcgregor. Silva didnt have quick knowckouts like conor, but he gave a new meaning to "skill" when he toyed with his opponents. Conor has skills as well ... but what i am saying is anderson silva brought that to the table long before conor did. The twist that conor brought to the MMA world was that he showed MMA is "entertainment business". Other fighters were all about being humble, being best fighter, all about belt etc etc .... but conor showed that there is more to it .... he showed how your entertainment appeal need to extend outside of ring as well (press conferences, interviews, etc). And now many other fighters try to copy his template

I don't think I've ever seen a more electrifying and unpredictable striker than Conor when he was fighting Alvarez, so much skill and an unbelievable drive to succeed. Conor deserves everything he has now IMO. I really hope he doesn't come back to fight though, the reason he was great was because he was climbing the mountain, he had hunger and drive, unfortunately his fighting career started declining when he had reached the top. No disrespect in the slightest, he's changed the UFC forever and I hope he comes back as a commentator or creates a podcast about the UFC, really hope he stays part of the sport but just not as a fighter.

Intentionally? He's lost to Diaz, Khabib, Dustin twice. Beat Diaz in a rematch, beat Alvarez(probably the worst champion in ufc history), beat Cerrone(who has permanent brain damage) He also went to boxing... all of this since 2016 Before that I agree, he was the most entertaining person, and also fighter because of his flash knockout capabilities. If he fought at featherweight his whole career, probably would have suited him more. He hasn't done anything since moving up, again 2016!!! I would put him in the top 10 ufc fighters of all time, because he was the first double champ. But mostly for what he did at featherweight
@user-nv2wt4hi8t
@user-nv2wt4hi8t 2 роки тому
@@edris2701 The thing is man, let's look at that: He lost to Diaz but let's not forget that he fought him on 11 days notice up from lightweight champion RDA to Nate, a completely different style of fighter who flourishes in 5 round fights (even when he loses he just seems to keep going for 5 straight rounds) which was particularly bad for a heavier Conor's first time at welterweight. He lost to Khabib but did better in some instances than Poirier and Gaethje (e.g. the takedown defence). Again with Dustin, in the rematch he was piecing him up until the leg kicks kicked in (again, it's entirely his fault due to the boxing stance he was using while preparing for Pacquiao) but his striking was miles ahead of Poirier's aside from the odd shot. In the rubber match it was pretty even and McGregor broke his leg, not a legitimate win by Poirier at all and should have been a no contest. He put on a masterclass against the same Eddie Alvarez who destroyed RDA in one round, gave Poirier a good fight before the DQ and knocked out Gaethje in his first loss (pre head movement Gaethje) but still, it's how easily Conor dismantled him. And you're right how boxing was the worst move he could have ever made. And I agree his best moments were in featherweight beyond beating Nate in a 5 round war and utterly ruining Eddie.

One of cleanest strikers ever in his prime, best fighter on the planet for a couple years there, cut short by all the boxing crap. Very unfortunate he left MMA for so long during his prime. Still one of the greats no doubt, quite a resume. Brandano, Porier, Holloway, Mendez, Aldo (when he was Aldo), Diaz, Alvarez, etc. Some run he went on...

Man Mcgregor hit like Thor's hammer for his size. Diaz had to cut weight to make 170lbs and is 6'1. Conor was the 145lb champion and only 5'9 fighting Diaz 2 full weights above Conor's division and Conor was still dropping Diaz over and over. Gotta give Nate props for taking all that damage even though he slurs his speech now and his brain seems damaged. That Conor that landed that 4 punch Combo on the bigger 155lb champion Eddie Alvarez was simply...MAGIC !!!

@@MikePasqqsaPekiM nah the money after he fought Floyd and his fame all over the world, having 200 million in your bank and not having trained MMA for a year just boxing changes you, he was never even 20% as motivated as he was before and was even too lazy to learn back his old stance and just developed a stiff boxing style in MMA through his year just training boxing for Floyd and getting used to it, its also probably not easy to motivate you to fight in the UFC anymore when you have like 200 million dollars in your bank and you´re already set for 20 luxurios lifetimes lol

So grateful I got to watch his run from Brimage on, and bet on The Mac every win. And that's coming from a Philly guy, who lived a mile from where Eddie The Underground King Alvarez was raised. In fact, THAT fight against Alvarez they closed off my block and the bars at each end served up a near riot while showing the fight on a screen that spread across the street. Needless to say, I had to bite my tongue when Conor won. I felt bad for the Alvarez fans, the block got as quiet as a funeral. Eddie is still a beast. Conor has apparently moved on beyond the ring now.
