Colbert returning to an audience was so cringe. This intimacy of a stand up night with the inside jokes is one of the coolest concepts I've seen in a long-time. It's connecting directly with the audience that matters - the ones at home.

"The jig is up." A common expression popular since mid-16th Century Elizabethan times, meaning "We're onto you, trickster." "The gig is up." A phrase coined by talk show host, Seth Meyers, doing a June, 2021 broadcast, meaning "I quit," or, you know, whatever Seth wants it to mean.

I used to be a die-hard Colbert fan and I still like him a lot but in the last year Seth has firmly cemented his position as the best in late night comedy. Although I probably shouldn't call it "late night" because part of his success has been abandoning the "late night" format. He's just doing what he's best at and I can't stop/won't stop loving it!
