it will be a bad flu season if it keeps going how its going. You have to think that just this year, the flu has 4x more cases and I think 4x more deaths as well. (I am not sure how accurate those flu numbers are, I kinda just ballparked it based on what I heard from a week ago)

The reason is the rate of infection of the flu is so high. Pretty much everyone catches the flu, and it's not a big deal because for most people who have a healthy immune system, the symptoms are relatively mild. The death rate for the influenza is only about .05 percent, whereas the Novel coronavirus is at around 2 percent based on the figures we have now. That's 20 times deadlier than the flu. If this virus was allowed to spread freely like the flu, we'd have hundreds of thousands dead. Maybe more, considering how overwhelmed our hospitals would be.

The same reason they wear scrubs, it makes it more sanitary. Pretty sure you would need a respirator mask to keep something like viruses out and those are not comfortable at all they are harder to breath through and make it humid.
