This is not the way wooden boats are "generally" sealed. Wooden boats are caulked with a special stranded cotton fiber tightly packed between the planks and all around the sims with a caulking iron and mallet. then sealed with a compound. When the boat goes on the water, the planks swell and tighten. This provides a flexible connection between the planks allowing them to move, shrink, and swell while maintaining the integrity of the hull. it is very labor intensive, but it's the long-standing way since the Vikings set sail in the open sea.

I don't think they'll show that in the video. I assure you that the shipwright I know has sustained some sort of injury with appropriate working clothes and in a safe working environment. It's part of the trade. I'm nervous just looking at them work. Good shipwrights, but how many of them actually last long in the job under such environment?

Còn cách thức thực hiện không khác đi nhiều đâu, bao năm nay vẫn vậy và chúng tôi tin rằng nghề này được truyền lại từ đời này sang đời khác...kể cả những việc cúng bái, tâm linh phía sau công việc này mà video chưa đề cập đến...đó cũng là thừa kế từ thế hệ trước.
