I lost count how often my attention was grabbed by art style, and instantly lost when I saw it wasn't the in game art style. Same with movies: a beautiful illustration on a poster, giving me the expectation of a unique animated movie, for it to be another live action movie. Doesn't mean it's a bad movie, it's just a disappointment even before I watched it, which is arguably a very bad first impression (unless the high expectation of a unique art style is considered the first impression, but I'd argue that that is just the attraction allowing it a chance to make an impression). Just bought this game physically for about 25 euro's, and I love it so far.

Putting up a demo is exclusively up to the developer, and honestly in most cases Demos *drive away* customers or do nothing. Here's the logic behind it: Interested in Game, Played the Demo, Going to buy the game: Demo played minimal role in this purchase as person was interested to begin with. Interested in Game, Played the Demo, Not buying the game: Demo actively drove away someone who was interested. Interested in Game, Didn't play demo, Going to buy the game: Demo played no role in the purchase. Interested in Game, Didn't play demo, Not buying the game: Failure of Advertising. Not interested in Game, Played the Demo, Going to buy the game: The fabled reason for demos, but also the incredibly rare scenario. Not interested in Game, Played the Demo, Not buying the game: Demo actively drove away someone who was reached by advertising. Not interested in Game, Didn't play demo, Going to buy the game: Demo played no role in the purchase. It was literally a random buy. Not interested in Game, Didn't play demo, Not buying the game: Person isn't in your target demographic. Given the above logic table, there is literally only 1 scenario where the demo benefits the game/developers. While there are 5 scenarios where it played basically no role, and 2 scenarios where it actually hurt the game/developers. This is the reason why most developers *don't* provide demos anymore. They were good way back when, where you could get demo-discs in Playstation Magazine, because they were essentially a better form of advertising, but nowadays with digital copies of games and the online market place, they're basically only detrimental.

@@sabata2 Honestly I feel like the second one happens because either the game was actually pretty bad, the demo wasn't properly showing the gameplay (that one that did a time trial), or they saw that it's not really a type of game they like. Also I tend to avoid random games if they don't have demos but if there is one it can put a game from no interest to on my wishlist.

Calling this visual looks "unique" is a bit of an overstatement. A lot of games are made to look like a cartoon or anime these days. And this game does looks like a style of cartoon that is not used very often nowadays. While i would totally agree that this visual style is "very niche", i wouldn't call it "unique". But if your argument is "that this game looks amazing!", then yeah i 100% agree.

@@neetscholar4149 dunno what you’re really on about. This style is pretty unique, anime and cartoon-inspired or not. Style isn’t just about how big their eyes are or how much it looks like an anime. You need to also take into account the colors, lines, animation techniques, shading, lighting, special effects, etc. And even if it’s not a “unique” style in general, it is for video games. This is not a common style used in games.

@@gektoast4968 We both agree that this style is not common. What we are disagreeing about here is the definition of "unique". Unique means that it can't be found anywhere else in the world. I am sure i have seen a handful of indie games with a similar style before. Maybe not as polished and refined as here, but similar nonetheless. Call it rare, or even extremely rare if you want, and i won't mind. But this isn't "unique".

That's what I was thinking. Idk about anyone else, but it was kind of hard to watch the trailer because I couldn't tell what certain things were due to the lack of outlines and similar colors. The game still looks cool tho

I imagine after playing a bit and getting used to the shapes of the characters your eyes will adjust and it'll be just as easy as ever to pick them out. If the artists are good enough, the characters should have strong enough colors and silhouettes to never really blend in, especially once you know what you're looking for. It's a tall order for sure but I think they'll do good enough

@@vinnyvanhoe5614 Nah, the game's art and color choices made it pretty hard to look at because there's no clear focal point, like I can't even differentiate the character from the background. The Colors are also pretty saturated most of the time which really put a strain on my eyes while looking at the game.
