Customer shoots and kills armed robber in Houston taco shop

Рік томуOn Thursday night, a masked man pointed a gun and demanded money from the patrons inside Ranchito #4 Taqueria. A customer attempted to stop him, pulling out a gun of his own and opening fire, shooting the suspect multiple times. After the robber was killed, the shooter retrieved the stolen cash to return to the other customers when he discovered the gun the suspect used was fake. The question now is whether the shooter will face any legal action for his deadly intervention.

@@AlbumMusicAIso how do you know if the robber is down yet? Lets say he had bulletproof vet, still holding a gun and can shoot back at an instance. He still held his gun after 4 shoots and only dropped it after 8th shoot. Yup i saw that video fyi. In this situation, there is possible threat to everyone this that diner if he retaliates. Stop victimize the criminal. Once he dares to commit crime, he must take responsibility that comes after.

Pointing a gun at somebody and demanding something from them is the definition of a threat to your life. It doesn't matter if the 'gun' was a carved piece of soap. The young man died because he didn't understand the phrase "just cause". Now he's in eternity wondering where he went wrong.

Fun fact: the robber turns out had a fake gun and in rage the defender threw his gun against the wall knowing he just killed someone. Police were looking for him and he got an attorney. The Houston community was in complete defense of defender if any charges were to come about. All charges were dropped against him.

No shooting someone multiple times in the back without warning is definitely NOT selfe defence. (I don´t feel sorry for the criminal btw but this does not change the fact that this was in no way self defence) He also endangered everybody insinde the room. @@myfbjj Sure but doesnt change the fact that another person is sitting at a booth in the same direction that the bullets were fired. Imagine if that person was hit and died. Yeah you got the armed robber but killed another civilian in the process. If you are armed I believe some action other than shooting immediately is necessary depending on the situation. In this case, the criminal has his back turned. At this point, you have the advantage/leverage and can dictate the next steps. This is all in hindsight but thats fine. We can all learn this type of situational awareness for next time.

The rub is the guy was leaving so it wasn't self defense at that point. We'll have to see how the prosecutor sees it. The fake gun shouldn't be the issue because even a cop can't tell if it doesn't have that bright red-orange tip.

The fact he was that upset it was a fake gun definitely says something. Most people don't want to take a life if they can avoid it. There was no way for anyone to know the gun was fake, but had he known maybe he wouldn't have used lethal force to subdue the robber. It's an awful situation for everyone involved, hopefully he doesn't get charged. Law abiding gun carrying citizens are getting afraid to even use their weapons in life threatening situations because the legal recourse from it can absolutely ruin your life.

Stop throwing the word hero around, it seems like it's losing its true meaning. This man did the "right" thing,so courageous? Yes, maybe, but hero? In hindsight, don't know. IMHO, real Heroes are civilians without any military training, who stand against Putin's war crimes in freezing deadly temperatures, not shooting a 20yo with a fake gun at a diner when your life was never in real danger, even if he didn't know it at the time, but still. When the robber threatened lethal force, he made his own life forfeit. He put his victims in life-threatening situation, forcing them to respond accordingly, surrender or counterattack. His bluff was called. It sucks to be him.

I feel bad for the hero; after discovering the gun was fake, he was absolutely livid, realizing that the entire situation didn't need to go down like that. He didn't need that on his conscience, living the rest of his life with a death on his hands. I hope he gets the support needed to move past this. He did the right thing, but the circumstances tell him that it was an unnecessary action.

The unnecessary action was the robber robbing ppl. He already served time for shooting a person in the back and now he was a hit in the back. He also has battery and assault charges too. He was given 15 years but got out in 7 years and then robs another person. That’s why he used a toy gun this time. If he was caught he would say it was a toy gun and never meant to hurt anyone.

Yes it 100% legally does not matter because from a legal point of view the victim only needs to perceive imminent bodily harm or death. The whole intention of the robber was to trick the patrons into thinking he had a real gun and they were in danger of imminent bodily harm or death. He succeeded.

Man, that’s got to sting. Killing the man when you’re certain that he’s got a real gun pointing at people and yourself. Only to then realise the gun was entirety fake, and that whole scene could’ve been avoided with a hard tackle to the ground, all without having the blood of someone stained in your hands for the rest of your life. Even though he acted and did the right thing in that situation, it will linger on forever in his head “I didn’t have to spill someone’s blood, if I’d realise sooner that the gun was a fake…” Which is heartbreaking honestly. Even though I have no sympathy for the scum robber, I do have sympathy for that man because if I was robbed at gun point in that establishment with a real gun, I’d for sure would appreciate someone protecting me that way. And I wouldn’t want them to feel like they didn’t do the right thing.

He didn’t know if the robber would turn the gun on witnesses so he took matters into his own hands. He gave everyone their hard earned money back. This man is a true American hero. I was not allowed to use lethal force because I did not fear grievous bodily harm. Now, if he had had a gun and was walking around the room threatening everyone, I would have had every right to fear that grievous bodily harm might come to someone else nearby, thus justifying deadly force. He didn't execute him because he mugged him (nor did he execute him period - that's called a begging the question logical fallacy, a deceptive technique), he used lethal force to stop him him because he feared grievous bodily harm.
