Fun fact about czech weapons: the "VZ" in their names is short for the word "Vzor" which translates to "Model". So the VZ 24 pistol is the Model 24 pistol, the VZ 58 rifle is the Model 58 rifle and so on.

The CZ 1937 Pistole vz. 24 is a Czechoslovakian semiautomatic pistol that was designed in the early 1920s by the famous arms designer Jan Kratochvíl. The vz. 24 was based on the earlier CZ Model 22, but with several improvements. The pistol has a short recoil, locked breech action and is chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge. It has a magazine capacity of 8 rounds and a barrel length of 4.7 inches. The vz. 24 also features a fixed iron sights and a manual safety located on the left side of the frame. The vz. 24 was widely used by the Czechoslovakian military and police, as well as by several other countries during the interwar period and World War II. This is the gun my grandpa carried in the 50's when he was a major in the national guard. I've been trying to figure out what model it was for months and this is definitely it. Very unique.

There was a well-known toy copy of this CZ pistol in the USSR. Being a boy I was proud to have one.
