Introducing the all-new Dacia Jogger!
If you’re in the market for a budget-friendly family car that comes with absolutely loads of interior space, then look no further than the Jogger!
But what makes it so good? Well for starters, it’s oh-so affordable. Prices start at just over £15,000, and the range-topper only comes in at £17,745! Sure, it may look like an MPV mixed with an estate mixed with an SUV, but at a cost of just over £2,000 per seat, you can’t complain!
What’s more, there’s more than enough room throughout this car - even the third row has more than enough room to fit most people. If you splash out on the range-topper, you’ll also have a cabin up front that comes with some plush, soft-touch materials.
In terms of engines, there’s only one to choose at the moment - a 1-litre turbocharged 3 cylinder that can produce 109hp & 200Nm. It’s not much, but then again performance is probably the least of your worries if you’re in the market for a Jogger.
So what do you think - is this the best value family car around? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

07:49 The Jogger was given a one-star Euro NCAP score for its lack of electronic safety aids. It doesn’t have lane-keep assistance or seatbelt reminders for the third row of seats, and the auto-braking system detects other vehicles but not pedestrians. However, the Jogger did score 70% for the structural protection it offers adult occupants, which is equivalent to a four-star rating. So, does this put you off the Jogger or not? Let us know below!

More brands should do what Renault did and is doing with Dacia. Smart and sensible no frills cars for people that are very sensible to how much a new car costs today. Skoda was a brand like that in the '90s and '00s but then "evolved" into the ultimate upper middle class family brand. Fiat could do it but they're more interested into the profitable 500 brand and with the exception of the Panda, have abandoned the "sensible price" segment.

Fiat still makes quite a bit of budget cars for markets outside the EU, and they tried to make the Tipo, but because of new environmental norms it became more expensive and couldn't really compete with other cars. Plus no-one knew or wanted it

@@23Shadowfox23 yeah i understand the point of view. But here in Italy there are lots of pandas, tipos... Like 30/40% of the cars are fiat. THeir strap-line is 'Everyhting you need, nothing you don't' - says it all - just like the Citroen Berlingo when it was first released @ £7k. Now it does everything but costs £40k+ Citroen missed the point of what people need so don't mind paying for. "doesn’t have lane-keep assistance or seatbelt reminders for the third row of seats, and the auto-braking system detects other vehicles but not pedestrians" I think there's something seriously wrong with the NCAP rating system if not having those features marks the Jogger down so much. In fact after reading the NCAP report there is more to it than that, but not enough to explain such a dramatically low mark. It feels like NCAP is so focussed on opportunities for manufacturer bragging rights and the safety industry's own project fear "let's churn and sell more" mindset, there's no appreciation left for cost / benefit and affordability, never mind sustainability, in the real world money situtations most people have to live with. If you're so well off you can swap out your Skoda/VW/Merc/Rover etc every year to match these ever tougher and more complex standards, NCAP might be great for you. For everyone else we get higher running costs and insurance as our cheaper used motors are seen to be a bigger risk. Summary - yeah, I'd buy this on spec based on the Car Wow review. Not considering the Jogger because it misses some safety features while being very affordable and still remaing pretty safe (compared to a bog standard mainstream 10yo car) shows a very 1st world and entitled mindset.

Dacia is basically Ford of the early 1900's. Making affordable cars for anyone to be able to buy. Hope it widens the model range. Dacia now has an MPV(Jogger), C segment/Compact SUV(Duster), A segment/City Car Electric(Spring), B segment/Subcompact(Sandero), C segment/Compact (Logan)(not available in Western Europe I think). Just think you're buying a Dacia E segment/Full-size SUV around 40k or a D segment/mid-size sedan for around 25k. That would be a real game changer in the European car market. Look at me I'm basically becoming a Dacia fanboy. 😀
@koborkutya7338
@koborkutya7338 Рік тому
agree. One comment though, Dacia's specialty is to produce cars that delivers what people actually need in terms of functionality. Full size SUV is, let's be honest, not that anyone needs as a vehicle. There is no functionality that a full size SUV would deliver. That class should deliver a feeling that you are rich, cool, dangerous, marvelous, you push everyone off the road or kill them on impact because you are so f*cking hard ass bad guy. In that segment being cheap is actually a disadvantage, it does not radiate the the owner has millions a month and has the latest drugs on offer plus a rack of machine guns in the glove compartment. Full size SUV is BMW land or Daimler country or GMC or whatever brand likes to be associated with organized crime. OK I might exaggerate a bit (Volvo XC90 is not really a pusher's car) but hope I could make the point :) Full size sedan, on the other hand, is something real, that I hope they will extend into (though, I hope they will move there with some kind of station wagon design, to maximize space).

@Susio Dox Incheon You do realise that this is a sub brand of Renault, aquired specifically to manufacture and sell cheap affordable cars. It is sold with great success even in the richest countries in EU. Also in South America. It will sell like crazy in North America, also. But they probably had enough profit not to bother with usa, not because they would not sell, but because it's a place where u can be sued if u fart on the street. And they spared himselves of this pain in the ass. Kia is there and sells alot of cheap cars. China is a premium market? Please let me sit down before i laugh. You probably have no idea what cars chinese drive, outside of their few rich cities.
@royliber3824
@royliber3824 2 роки тому
@Susio Dox Incheon It won't go in North America sense Renault doesn't sell their either. Renault make pretty small engines and small cars that wouldn't fit the American population... One of the main reasosn that I know is because generally speaking, the American cars are built to long highway drives and they are quite more reliable than European cars. Also most European cars lack the rich equipment American cars get as standard. 1.0L engines simply won't fit in North America because of how uncomfortable they are in longer drives and they aren't considered reliable by American standards. Dacia sounds like a company that would sell to 3rd world countries but actually its selling quite good in all of Europe. They are sensible cars which mostly fit to the big cities, with great fuel economy and not many senseless quirks that simply would cost more to install. Its basically a block on 4 wheels that takes you from point A to point B the cheapest way possible, it won't fit NA market but doesn't have to.
@TassieLorenzo
@TassieLorenzo 2 роки тому
@@dan_6915 I agree except for "it will sell like crazy in North America", that's not so sure. The culture is quite different, North American economy car buyers prefer Japanese and Korean cars. I'm not sure North American economy car buyers are completely comfortable with Renault products (obviously Renault's tie-up with AMC went really badly). Asian cars dominate the economy car sector in North America. Where Clio and Golf may be the best selling compact cars in Europe, Civic and Corolla are the best selling compact cars in North America. The Asian brands are really the only ones left in the economy car segment in North America, with the American brands having withdrawn from selling cars, and most European brands not selling economy cars in NA (only VW, with FIAT having withdrawn, and obviously no Renault, Dacia, Skoda, Seat etc). It doesn't necessarily make sense but it is just how it is: conversely, European buyers don't seem completely comfortable with Toyota or Honda products and prefer their domestic brands, Toyota are only 5th place by volume in Europe compared to first place nearly everywhere else. Part of this is the EU diesel push from the late 90's that protected the domestic auto industry in Europe, whereas Toyota obviously focussed on petrol hybrids instead which was the preferred emissions reduction policy of California.

Rented one yesterday for a ~400km trip, carrying 6. Top trim, 100hp petrol/lpg engine. Started Athens, went up and down couple of mountains, then countryside and then back again via national highway, a/c always on. For what it is its exceptional, i only wished for more power at highway speeds, below 100 kmh it was ok, close ratio gears helped, the clutch was awful in deed, i wish it was an automatic. Lpg cost was 20 euros for the whole trip!!!

I will have to consider this when I upgrade. Does it come in automatic as well?

If you find the low NCAP rating off-putting, read up on the Renault Zoë. The NCAP measuring is favouring luxury brands now. The car scores high in all area's you care about. I'm loving the sensibility engineering on Dacia's. Bloody Brilliant car.

looks nice and spacious.. it practically has all you need though plastic finish is quite obvious low grade but based on Matt's review everything is just right on the money.. very nice

My family owns an old logan from 2008. besides a blown bulb, a broken spring, and a valve for the propane installation there were little issues. it is easy to repair, and the slightly larger room in the wheel arces, are ideal for bad roads. much cheaper than most cars and by far less issues. my poor former neighbour and his luxury beemer, he kept poring money into it. well the dacia offers no luxury but an aircon, but not needing new parts every year is a luxury to ;-)

I've got three high performance cars but I've always admired the DACIA brand - cheap, no thrills, reliable and good value for money. Perhaps I'll buy one and stick an AMG badge on it (stop false badging)!

I had a 13 plate Dacia Sandero Stepway and I was just as impressed with the feel of all the dials. Its cheap so you expect it to be cheap feeling but I can say the tactile feel of all the stuff was top notch

Maybe the reason Jogger does not have a more potent powertrain is canibalising Renault's lineup. With a 1.5dci under the bonnet and 1000k premium for that, it might be a best seller and great all-rounder.

with that engine and rear disk brakes it would be the answer to most young families' motoring needs.

They discontinued that engine for the UK years ago even commercial vans have not had one in a couple of years 1.5 or 1.6 dci are the options .

Nice car, cleverly designed and well thought out by Dacia for not a lot of money, in fact it shames it's competitors on Price and quality. Perfect for most families and businesses. Having owned the previous model Stepway I would have no qualms about buying this brand again, looking forward to the 'Bigster'!!

Ive been driving cars over 45 years none of which have had all these electronic gizmos to keep me in lane or brake the car in case of collision ,i can manage this all by myself. If however i bought a new care with these features i would treat it as a bonus or extra feature and don't see why a car without these features should be down graded after all anybody can have a crash in a car and whats important is how the car stands up to the impact and protects the occupants.

It's a brilliant car, I've just bought one! There's a 6-9 month wait at present so I won't get mine til estimated some time in November. I usually spend around £30k on cars but what £30k gets you nowadays for a family car is just not worth it. My car is nearly half the price and I returned 45mpg on my 12 mile test drive which I'm more than happy with. If you're skeptical about a budget brand like I was, I urge you to go check one out at the dealership, you'd be pleasantly surprised!
