Also the lore of robots trying to be human in the lyrics. Think the fans need to give this the love it deserves

I know this comment will get buried, but I gotta put this out there. I remember being 13 years old and stumbling across this song and being completely enthralled by it. A lot was going on at that time and this song helped me put the pieces together. Over time my taste in music has developed and Daft Punk took a backseat in my playlist. Just today, my 23rd bday, I came across RAM again and decided to give it another listen. I completely forgot this song existed and I got to listen to it all over again and resdiscover it, and I was brought to tears. What a rush. The most effective example of musical storytelling. Much has changed since then and this song serves as a reminder of how far I’ve come. It’s like a window to the pain and uncertainty of 13-year-old me. Crying to this song again 10 years later feels like holding his little hand. I do what I do for him. Thank you all for being here and sharing this moment with me. RIP Daft Punk ♥️

My dad passed away week ago. In an accident. I can't stop listening to this. It somehow helps me remember the good times spent with him. It's a shame he won't enjoy this masterpiece again.

Those drums starting up at 6:20 followed by the strings and choir is an absolute revelation.

The transition in 5:52 feels as if you've just ascended to the exosphere on a steady rise, looking back at earth with the sun giving you warm light beams contrasting with the rising blackness of the universe. The stars are closer and closer. Beautiful.

Bruh, I'm bawling. Paul William's final verse is like a Eulogy. This is big final credits energy. It's cruel to pick this song, but it's so damn perfect.

I really hope that they didn't split due to interpersonal issues. But, regardless, I think they chose this song for the ending because, for those of us who love their music, that's all we need. It's over, but we still have 28 years of music to relish. Done, but not gone.

To be complete. He briefly recalls his younger times, which he considered reliving. But it would all bring him back here again, leaving it with no point as well. And with this logical conclusion, he stood, unable to quit. On standby until existence was over. It wasn't enough for him anyway. He needed something more....

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the soft, tender, emotional vocals by Paul Williams? That slight quiver of his voice makes it so much more heartbreaking and real. He's perfect for this song.

Anyone with a little knowledge of this band will know why: a) This is their most important song b) This is the song they probably love the most c) Why for Daft Punk is coming full circle to have Paul Williams on the track.

I love this song. My mama bought the CD back in the summer of 2013 and would play it in the car all the time. She'd always put it on whenever we went to this chicken place near our house. Every time we'd hope in the car, we'd breeze past green fields and an impossibly blue sky. I'd stare into the sky and space out to this very song. I loved those moments. I really did. I'm just afraid that I'm not always going to be able to look back on them so fondly. I'm afraid it's all going to sink into melancholy one of these days. But man. I loved those moments. I really did.

Can we just collectively enjoy the passage from 3:26 to 4:16? These conflicting emotions of deep joy and a sweet touch of melancholy, pain, and sadness...man, this passage hits me every time. My whole body wants to dance but my heart feels like crying. The keyboard, the strings, the trumpets. Perfection.

I don’t think the first time I heard daft punk was as important as the first time it really hit me. And this song hit me especially. I had listened to daft punk here and there from what was popular, and get lucky was always playing on the radio. I had gotten curious about the other songs on this album and that’s when I stumbled across touch. It was 3 am and I was 11-12 living in a hotel with a large family. This song felt like a robot, disabled and taken apart in a dark attic suddenly coming alive and talking about how he could feel, and slowly went through the different times of its lifespan. This song was alive and it was the song that pushed me into creating something cinematic only using sounds. I wish I could listen to this for the first time again, and now that daft punk ended I feel empty, but hearing this at the end of epilogue just felt right. Felt complete.

I am crying because of this song; touch is such a beautiful thing, it helps us identify what's real on a level that is familiar to us. There are memories, where there is touch. A time where you felt someone else's hand, a time where you felt something cold, a time where you touched something that stung. But love is something familiar to us that we cannot touch, it is a part of us we cannot control, it is ethereal. So for someone to make you feel something different than everything else that you can touch, it almost makes you feel alive, you might even begin to crave it. Some say it's better to love than to never love at all, but if you never loved, then you wouldn't know what it feels like to lose it.

Never thought I'd hear this song in Olympic figure skating, but, gosh dang, it was awesome to hear it just now!

Man, this song lives up to its name. In my mind _Random Access Memories_ is the story of a person who gradually morphed into a robot, and is trying to listen to old music to figure out how to be human again. It's an allegory for the transformations of the electronic music industry and probably Daft Punk themselves. It's one of the best albums I've heard in a very long time because of its humanity, and none of it would work without this song.

I think I know why they broke up. They dropped one of the greatest albums ever composed on humanity, spent over half a decade trying to come close to it, realized they never would, and decided to dip. Respect

I remember the first time I listened on vinyl. I didn’t want to spoil the album so I waited for it to be shipped and fell in love with this song. I still get the same feeling as if it were the first time I’ve listened. The goosebumps, the tears and the feeling in my chest. It gets better. Please love yourself and others. We are floating on this rock in space. It will be okay.

I’m so grateful to that US figure skating pair Chock & Bates for using a Daft Punk medley in a competition. Otherwise, I probably never would have discovered this song or “Within”.

Already 2 years ago, but still hurts as if it happened yesterday. Such an special song to end a iconic legacy that will never be forgotten.

Such a beautiful song. For some reason my heart breaks when Paul Williams speaks the words "I need something more" So desperately lost in sadness. To feel like there is nothing left but touch to offer solace and peace. This is a song that will haunt me for a lifetime. Knowing what that feels like to "need something more"

3/4/2022 My cat Cleo passed away today. The one sensation of her I'll miss the most is her touch. Her passing was peaceful, and we did everything we needed and wanted to. I miss her already. I think this song really just.. fits today. An epilogue.

This song reminds me of 8th grade more than anything. Brings back the smells and feelings of being a kid without any substances in my body. Part of me would give anything to go back, but I know time moves forward always. I wish I could have happiness, and understanding like that. I thought the pills, powders, syrups, and needles would take me to it but they really just shot me 1,000,000 miles away.

2023 and I still can't stop listening. This is so complex composition but simply beautiful.

It's my first time listening to this piece of music. Even in its most rythmic parts it sounds like it wants to play in the background, while at the same time punching a hole on the foreground, merging it with the background. It's like music that plays while dreaming, totally in silence and constant in your ear at the same time. It's incredibly melodic, comforting and tragic at the same time. It's like a hug that really wants to be full, but it's actually empty.

I used to listen to this song all the time in high school when I was suicidal and completely alone. I felt like a robot trying to remember how to feel, just like the intro. It was a long hard journey, but I held out for love and eventually found it within myself and the friends I didn't realize were there. I haven't heard this song in years. Daft Punk wasn't the biggest part of my life, but hearing their music inspired happiness throughout my childhood and made me feel alive when life felt meaningless. Hearing this song in the Epilogue hit like a ton of bricks. Daft Punk, thank you so, so much. Life will feel different knowing you're not making music anymore, but I know that what you've made will help and bring joy to others forever.

I've been going through a really rough loss recently, and I have never felt so understood by a song. Those harmonies feel like a well-deserved hug after a long, exhausting patch of life. Like, *"you've made it this far. You deserve love, too."*

The fact that Daft Punk's music hasn't been turned into a musical yet is ...surprising. The story of a young robot coming to terms with his lack of soul and his connection to the world at large.

I feel a weird connection to all the other people who came to this song first after learning the news.

One of the best songs I've ever heard. So magical.

Such a very well built song. It's like an emotional journey. At first it's like the idea of "touch" is something completely alien to you, the effect reinforced by the distant robotic effects and voice, you're like a robot with barely any recollection of what touch or feeling is. Then longing arises expressed in a very emotional and human voice. Then the fast, fun, melodic bit is like experiencing the near forgotten emotion, possibly falling in love. Then near the end you experience the beauty of love, expressed by the angelic voices and in the very end it says "you've given me too much to feel", which is a complete contrast to the beginning. And there's also the idea of belonging, home and peace going through the song. Amazing composition. Amazing song.

It is literally impossible to get bored of this album.

Every time I listen to this song,my eyes go watery all the same. I will never stop saying farewell to Daft Punk. I didn't grow up with them,but I grew with them,that's for sure. So once again,and not for the last time,farewell Daft Punk. We miss you.

Man.. I just love the Daft Punk fandom, such a charming and peaceful community in every comment section I read. No hate, no argueing about wich song or album is best/worse. Just people feeling the love they spread with their music. Thank you..

Paul is the best. If you only know him by this, your next best jumping in point would be Phantom of the Paradise (which helped inspire Daft Punk). He wrote the soundtrack & lyrics for that movie. Faust, Phantom's Theme, Old Souls, and The Hell of It are IMO the biggest standouts from the soundtrack but they're ALL good. (If you haven't watched the movie you'll notice a couple of the early tracks are derivative and stuff and that's intentional w/ reasons in-film, riffing on the 50s sound and Beach Boys and all that before going into glam rock before it was really a thing, lol.) Then after Phantom just...meander around, haha. He's amazing. The earliest album is The Holy Mackerel, which is mostly psychedelic rock, but from there it is *mostly* pop and some rock. He wrote for The Carpenters, The Muppets, Three Dog Night, and a zillion others-as well as frequently releasing albums where he sang his own material with his other-worldly, beautiful voice (which are always my faves). No joke, he's amazing. Just phenomenal.

This is my analysis of Touch The intro consists of a disturbing robotic voice yearning for "touch" accompanied by almost computer like sounds in the background as it builds up and turns into Paul Williams voice. This is where the robot experiences Touch and feels more so like a human. Then the song breaks into a melody which sounds very similar to the hook from Get Lucky, before progressing into a romantic beat with a choir in the background. The robot found love (maybe he got lucky?) which explains the lyrics: "if love is the answer hold on". At the end of the song, it goes back to Paul Williams voice saying that Touch was not enough to make him feel human, that he needed something more. That something more is love.

When I heard this song play at the end of the Epilogue, I literally broke down crying. I remember discovering this song 3 years ago and thinking "Holy shit, why am I just now discovering this?" Everything from composition, the emotional transitions, the vocals: this song felt like the amalgamation of the human experience and it always had a special place in my heart. To hear it play out seven years later at the epilogue of their retirement, it made me realize that this was just as special of a song to them as it was for me. Thank you for everything you've done.

I'm surprised nobody mentions the Phantom Of The Paradise homage, POTP is what inspired Daft Punk and Paul Williams did the music for it. What an artistic full circle moment.

This makes me cry every time. My best friend used to make me listen to this track all the time on holidays, because he knew I would be in love with the disco break. Then 2 years ago, he developed a brain cancer, and I started listening to this song all over again when we didn't know what would be happening. Thank God he survived. The disco break is the pure unadulterated joy that is our friendship. The rest is the love and the sadness.
