0:50 I really really like the way he phrased that. A lot of other people would say "i didn't play my best, but [insert opponent] is an amazing player and was playing amazing tennis". And maybe they mean the same thing as medvedev, but the way medvedev phrased it spells it out so much more clearly for tennis fans of all levels. he explicitly states that his opponent was able to prevent him from playing his best and that he still did not feel that he played badly despite that. I don't think people give enough credit to their opponent for preventing them from finding their best tennis. To me, this speaks of both humility and confidence at the same time. he shows no insecurity about this loss and I love it. This guy is amazing, no matter how it ended today. It's extremely sad that it was an unilateral match, and it only went 3 sets. I'm a Novak fan, and i'm glad he won, but i still believe that Medvedev can beat Novak on a hard slam. Novak played great tennis but Danil lost any chance the minute his lost his calm. I knew Novak will win, mentally. I really was under the impression it could be an extremely entertaing match if is not unilateral. I really believe in this guy but he really need to accept his imperfections and his nerves. He'll get there. I hate the fact that Novak's haters put pressure on him. Don't give up, accept your flaws without letting them ruining you. Novak's number one is his mental game.

@slXD1003 роки тому
Djokvovic' shots are consistently close to the line and on the line, it is hard to return such shots and/or attack them without making any mistakes. So naturally Medvedev will struggle and succumb to the pressure and make more mistakes compared to his matches with other opponents. Anyone else Medvedev would've crushed today. Also, Novak puts in crazy angles that pressure the opponent and make you run all the time, eventually you just can't keep up and results look like these today. There have been so many times against all kinds of players which Novak handled this way, he proved it over and over, Medvedev just had to take risk at times which again, turn into mistakes and are very hard shots to make.. but he has to do something, otherwise he will lose the point anyway. Styles make fights, remember that.

Exactly.

I agree, I think Med can beat Novak with his ability right now. I think Djoko executed his game plan perfectly, nullifying anything Med had planned. He made Med run for his life, served well, and Novak was luckily able to find his spots well, something that unfortunately never happened at RG 2020.. I don’t agree that the game was lost once he lost his cool, though. I kind of just took it with a grain of salt because he is probably the only other player on tour other than Novak that can will himself into matches with temper tantrums or breaking a racquet. Novak was a little loose in his last service game and honestly, if a few minor details changed in that game alone, Med may have been able to take it into 4 or 5. Luckily as a Novak fan, he did not give Med ANY room to mount a comeback, which is honestly a bit rare. He likes to give us heart attacks but usually comes through in the end..

Congrats Daniil! 🥳 with finalist at A0 2021. Your GS is coming! Keep going. Keep your focus. The first set you were totally in the zone and then it felt like things became a bit fuzzy with too much focus on your box. You are amazing person and awesome tennis champion. 💚

Refreshing to hear such honest and clear headed young player. You will win one GS sooner than leter Daiil, you can count on it.

Great interview, love you Daniil , you’ll get there.

Medvedev is such a charming guy and such an unorthodox tennis player and I'm so sorry he lost. Djokovic was, unfortunately, unbeatable today. But Daniil will heft a Grand Slam trophy soon, I'm sure.

His remarks and even more so the manner in which he responded showed character and strength. That cannot be a pleasant experience. Rooting for you, Daniel!

This guy is the coolest young tennis player, exceptional in his game and so honest. Really the best is yet to come

Huge respect for Medvedev. The rest of nextgen can learn a thing or two from the way conducts himself after loss. New world no. 3. With very little points to defend in the clay season, might just become the next #1
@terencewong46873 роки тому
Yes, he conducted himself very well in the post match interview even after defeat.
@jondavwal133 роки тому
For some reason he's not very good on clay.

He is a class act! I am such a fan now, still a Novak fan...but I cannot wait to watch this guy in future matches. He’s the REAL deal! ...RESPECT!

Djoko is ahead considerably, but I think #2 is DEFINITELY within reach.
@generalshockwavekingpin3263 роки тому
Djokovic was simply, too good here. Supreme. There was nothing much that any player in the Aus Open 2021 mens draw could've done to Djokovic in the final, in my opinion.
@Mike-lx8ll3 роки тому
Krygios could of blasted him off the court.
@generalshockwavekingpin3263 роки тому
@@Mike-lx8ll I don't think that Kyrgios was in that good of shape, here, fitness - wise.

Wawrinka is always trouble, but he's definitely not in the same top form he was in when knocking djoko out of AO's. especially now after the double-knee surgery.

Big congratulations to Novak! He is and always be Numero UNO in my heart! The more some bash him, the stronger he gets! Something to learn from #1- GO NOVAK! On the other hand, a huge support to Medvedev. He is 10 years younger than Novak and has so much potential. He will one day (and very soon) get in the top 3 and I am looking forward to it. He is humble yet passionate and with time he will master his mental game like Novak. Congratulations to both players!

I like his speeches and press conferences, he's so honest and clever, tries to hide his feelings, but his eyes are sad. It's not easy to accept a loss and find motivation to go on. I just hope he'll have a good season and win a slam.

Great guy, an amazingly good player, number 3 in the world, and he'll be the one to beat in the future!
@bonzwah13 роки тому
It is incredible how articulate he can be while not strictly adhering to "proper" english grammar. His word choice is so...fundamental. It feels like he is just presenting his thoughts as a series of ideas and that his speech is simply him sequentially naming these ideas in english, but his thoughts are so clearly organized that this series of ideas more clearly communicates his intended meaning than "fluent" english, and it almost makes me wonder why this isn't how native english speakers speak. All of the words he is leaving out of his sentences clearly serve no purpose if we can clearly understanding everything he is saying without them. - and no, I'm not claiming to be a grammar expert. I'm just a random native english speaker suddenly realizing how many words I say that are unnecessary for communication but necessary for grammar.
