OH STFU! The Kings had Gm 7 at home and lost. FOH comparing what Stern did to that trade the Hornets GM agreed to and some conspiracy theories about officiating in ONE QUARTER of one game. BTW, was the NBA rigging the series when Chris Webber shoulder blocked Derek Fisher in Gm 5 to get Bibby open? @pharaohtheblackgod34258 років тому
David Stern vetoed that Chris Paul trade as an ode to Micheal Jordan. MJ and Stern came into the league together and MJ along with Stern's determination made the NBA an international conglomerate. MJ got to purchase the Hornets because of Stern's approval. These two have a very close personal and business friendship. With Jordan being so competitive, he did NOT want this trade to happen because Kobe Bryant had just won his 5th NBA championship the year before the trade and with the help of Chris Paul would have surpassed him for total championships. Jordan made a call to Stern and asked him to veto the trade because he did NOT want Kobe surpassing him in ring totals especially with everyone comparing them against each other. (Who's better? M.J. or Kobe? Right?) That's why Stern said he vetoed it for "basketball reasons". MJ was the reason for the veto and the Lakers haven't been the same since. In fact, Mitch Kupchak, GM of the Lakers has a beef with Stern til this day because of Stern and his bullshit. End of story.
@quintengaming30488 років тому
Back then the hornets were New Orleans not Charlotte and Jordan owns Charlotte
@pharaohtheblackgod34258 років тому
Quinten Gaming Yeah I know Jordan owns the Hornets. That is in my previous statement and I know Charlotte WAS the Bobcats but they WERE the Hornets originally in their inception in the NBA. Nothing I stated is false.
@usingu4118 років тому
+Pharaoh The Black God Charlotte Bobcats were a expansion team in 2002 when they changed there name to hornets in 2014 they got all the original history of the original hornets who were in Charlotte and moved to New Orleans and are now known as Pelicans and now the New Orlean Pelicans are credited as a Expansion Team
@pharaohtheblackgod34258 років тому
+Big Mack Stop trippin' off that. I said the Hornets because that's what they are now in Charlotte. The whole gist of my comment is why David Stern vetoed the Chris Paul trade. He did it so the heat and Lebron was big so he could market them. if he did this trade the lakers would be to good for Miami.
@manuginobilisbaldspot4248 років тому
+savedbythebellnascar I doubt that. No Odom or Gasol would've been too much for the Lakers to offset THAT year. But CP3 + Kobe = free agents. Even if you don't like Kobe, CP3 would've been the ball handler and other stars would've come to the Lakers and played with him. It was the whining of the owners because the Lakers had location + assets + history working for them. So Stern undercut that IMHO as a means of trying to even the deck. And well, it worked. That and an awful trade to acquire a washed Steve Nash + Dwight Howard already being on the downside of his career when he was acquired. Now, you have to team build regardless of location. Which I do kind of like...but at the same time, it makes it seem more like a plantation. Players shouldn't be restricted by artificial means and the way the salary cap and deals are constructed now, free agency punishes teams more than ever

@undisturbedcities3 роки тому
Nope. What have the Hornets/Pelicans won since then? Stern admitted a trade could have been reworked with the Lakers, it was a good move for the 29 other owners.
@jayhawks58872 роки тому
In hindsight yes, because the trade was so bad for their team that they got the first overall pick which was Anthony Davis not because the Lakers trade was better than the Clippers trade. Lakers offered better players and assets.
@jayhawks58872 роки тому
lastonesleft Honestly Dan Gilbert is a cry baby the Lakers CP+Kobe wasn’t going to beat the Thunder big 3, Spurs or Mavs. He is right that the veto was the best decision for the hornets not because the Clippers trade was better than Lakers but because the Clippers trade was so bad that they tanked enough for AD.
