Bears! Thanks for all of the beautiful views. Interesting how many people know of your travels but all of us here watching get it. You both are an amazing family! I thought it was so funny when Little Bear said, ‘I’ve counted 100 trees and I’m bored!’😂. I being of another generation instantly my mind went to this common saying and song, ‘100 bottles of beer on the wall 100 bottles of beer , you pass one down, pass it around, 99 bottles of beer on the wall’. Little Bear don’t let Momma read this part!😮😂. Another enjoyable adventure from our Bear Family on the trail. Miss Elle you are the hoot, always in the good hands of Little Bear 😊. 🐱🧸🐻🥾👍

Of course there is a lot of Virginia 😊. Glad you got the good views in the smokies ❤. Much better on the body without the ice and snow. Good job! Glad you two are stretching the miles out a little. Soon 20 miles will feel like an easy day. Rocksilvania…it’s not so much rock climbing…it’s more the awkward foot steps. Oh, and the rattle snakes from time to time. I think that trekking poles alert them that you’re coming. They are mostly chill and make for great stories at camp. Don't blame you one bit for skipping Gatlinburg. Same reason for not wanting to hang around at Clingmans Dome. We did the Gatlinburg thing for a few years and then discovered Townsend, TN. It's a few miles to the west and is known as the "Peaceful Side" of the Smokies. You are on one of my favorite stretches of trail now. Newfound Gap to Tricorner Knob has some of the best ridge walking on the AT. The forest is very peaceful as well. It's a bit bouncy but so beautiful. If y'all ever get the chance, come back and hike the Alum Cave trail to Mt. LeConte. You can spend the night in the cabins and eat at the lodge but you have to make reservations well in advance. Or you can just tent camp. Either way, it is stunning. I really enjoy that peak finder app. Gives you a perspective on where you have been and/or where you are going. Good night, MB, LB, and Ellie. Sweet dreams and God bless.

We didn't do a thru hike of the AT, only the Smokies and up to just beyond Max Patch. It was amazing to us the difference between the trail northbound to Clingmans Dome and the trail northbound out of Clingmans Dome. Seemed to us like almost two different mountain ranges as the southern part was normally easy walking as far as rocks and roots went. But from Newfound Gap on to Davenport Gap was amazingly different terrain with the amount of rocks!

I think the more beautiful the section, the less horrible the rocks feel and the less "noteworthy" they are. Pennsylvania rocks are definitely worss than others, but it's also all there is to talk about that sections since it's flat and not very pretty. Just my opinion as a fellow thru hiker :)

I have stealth camped in a national park or two before. Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do. We were physically spent and weren't going to make it to the next shelter, and a bad storm was rolling in, so we got off trail, found a clearing and put our tent up. It was worth the risk to do the right thing in terms of not bonking and not getting hypothermia. We practiced leave no trace, put our food up in a bear bag. And it was OK. I wouldn't make a habit of it, but in that case I had to trust my judgement for the people I was taking care of.

You guys are just kill'in it non-stop! You're doing great! You see how many people you ran into in the Smokies, that is why there are restrictions. Think of what the trail would look like with all of those people in the Smokies and no restrictions. The crowds are still worrisome though. Those rocks that look like they are on end were caused by frost upheavals. Another thing that people don't tell you is that you will have rocky areas on the entire trail and yes, the second half of Pennsylvania is very rocky, but those Pennsylvania rocks stop at Katahdin. I too thought that the Smokies were not as nice as I had pictured from people's descriptions. It will continue to get prettier and prettier as you hike. You both look so happy, I am jealous! The shelter before the gap I slept in because of a downpour and in the morning when I work up 2 tramily said I moaned all night. I didn’t even know. One gave me an 800 ml of IBU. You won’t have to wait until Pennsylvania to get way, way more rocks than the Smokey’s. Central Virginia is quite rocky in places, too.

You had some amazing views on this trail! Such a beautiful day as well! I’m wondering why the Smokey Mountains section of the trail is so strict? Is it more dangerous than the rest of the AT?

GSNP is by far* the most visited National Park in the US (over 13 million people in 2023). They are probably trying to minimize the human impact on the land. (*The second most visited in 2023 was Grand Canyon NP, with 4.7 million visitors.) The rules are a pain, but probably warranted.

Thank you for going up Charlie's Bunion. You are the first hikers I have followed that has shown either the walk to, presence at, or the view from the Bunion. Awesome views from there and throughout the video. How neat it is for you to meet some of your 8000+ subscribers. By the way, congrats on that. Ya'll are making great progress in miles hiked in total as well as daily. Hard to believe Little Bear is only 11. She is truly a warrier. Ya'll take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

She is an animal lover and likes seeing all animals in their natural habitats. It’s thrilling to watch her sweet response-- praying it never gets old ( Mama Bear, like DOLPHINS in our Masters Program 😂)

The Smokies have given you opportunity to share the most epic views of the Appalachians so far. Y’all were on trails with some steep drop offs as well. Be careful.
