Became a fan when I saw him fight in Shreveport, LA the first time on the Haney undercard. Saw him again just recently in Shreveport, LA. This kid is one the future faces of boxing along with Haney, Stevenson, Davis, & Ortiz. Salute!!

some body I agree the experience they get definitely carries over to their pro careers. The best American boxers (ALI, Tyson, Leonard, Roy Jones, mayweather) all went to the Olympic in their amateur careers

Hey beat Shakur twice and Shakur beat him 2 times in the amateurs. Kid has a good head on his shoulders. Way to stay focused. I hope he becomes world champ. Especially coming from Salinas CA. Seeing Ruben successful to this day makes me happy for him. In Salinas, in a seedy neighborhood with a lot of history, I grew up in the same apartment complex he did. When I reminisce on those days, I wonder how he went from looking like he did, to this super tough boxer. The Ruben of back then was a big kid, but I always knew he was a good person. I'm glad he was my friend.

Feel bad for this dude..I think he's poorly managed ..beating both Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson multiple times in the amateurs he needs a promoter mentioning that and putting his name out there and giving him exposure ..this dude just getting lost in the sauce of the ranks in boxing..he needs a better promoter and eventually better coach
