But Martin writes most of the lyrics :P
@winternightmarecrochet4 роки тому
But the songs Martin sings by himself, such as A Question of Lust just sound more personnal and deeper, anyway, in my opinion, because it's true to him, it's felt, and he delivers that so well to the public. Dave Gahan may be an amazing vocalist, one of the best on the planet, even, but it somewhat shows that he doesn't identify with the message as strongly as Martin does. Still very emotional, yes, just not on the same level.
@butternutcrunch4 роки тому
No, the "message" here is all about Saturn worship which is actually just Satan worship. The image of Saturn with the words Strongest Man in the Universe around it indicate this. Google Saturn worship.
@skimmilkm4 роки тому
I interpret the song as Dave trying and failing to get a married woman to love him, with the Strongest Man In The World title obviously being a lie that he's telling her, as if Dave is only saying "though our worlds my fall apart and the walls start crumbling in though we may deserve it, it will be worth it" to act tough to cover up his loneliness.

After "Enjoy the silence", probably the best track of the album "Violator".

Actually, I agree with you that it's the best track off the 'Violator' album; however, in my opinion this one and Waiting for the Night are the best. I also like Policy of Truth better than 'Enjoy The Silence.'

Me too! 1. Policy of truth, 2. Enjoy the silence, 3. World in my eyes, 4. Halo.

wrong, the second best track is personal jesus undoubtedly

THE BEST SONG ON VIOLATOR, HANDS DOWN! Too dark for radio.

@@Lunatic4Bizcas : Good choices! Enjoy the silence is the most inexplicably overrated of all Depeche mode's singles. It's not a patch on Precious, from Playing the angel, even though they are not too dissimilar.

Such a well directed video - Anton was at his peak at this time, so watchable, funny and touching all at the same time...

That's Jenna Elfman (tall blonde), dancing. Years before she played Dharma, on Dharma and Greg. I just saw her on Murder, She wrote as a ballet dancer. And I still love Halo and the way Dave Gahan sings. And he's gorgeous even in person. ❤😊

Musically and lyrically brilliant.

I thought it was cute seeing Martin together with this girl and her liking him in the end, I also felt Fletch and Alan weren't given much to do and seem to be the side characters while Martin and Dave were the main characters.

My favorite song from Depeche Mode of all times.

In my humble opinion, one of the best songs ever, not only by DM. So happy to see them again on the tour next year, yet so sad that without Sir Andrew Fletcher.

Dave gahan was very brave to take part in this clip, it's somewhat comforting and refreshing to see that even men with worldwide fame and millions in their bank account can still be skinny, it feels that men who aren't ripped lack representation in social media and Hollywood, and it's taking it's toll on young men.
