When I first started learning Inkscape, I would just sit on my couch and follow along with Inkscape videos to practice. After getting through the learning curve, I love love love it! Especially the "free" part:)

The way you slice/clip depends on the type. I think I might talk about that in the video, but I'm not sure. When I first joined it, I thought I would join for a month for my trial membership and then cancel, but it is so worth the price (which is pretty low).
