Perfect for my simple project...building a couple of Low Pass Gate modules for Eurorack modular. The Stripboard orientation was confusing me so this helped to clarify. Also, the Github app is very useful. Thankyou. Subscribed.

As a Veroboard fan I was jealous of all the PCB people having all sorts of EDA tools... until I discovered DIYLC... I'd rather not have to use the acursed JVM, but it is still great that "we" can do EDA too.

Great video! 👍 I just cut them with a hobby knife; it's much faster for long rows and reduces the risk of drilling too deep. You also have fine control over the shapes you want. I often use SMD parts on perf board, and I even split traces for SOP chips, but be careful where you place your hands, as with any cutting job. I've one or more shorts where I cut some traces and solder some SMD part on perf board.

For the schematics in this video I used an app called draw.io which you can download from here: github.com/jgraph/drawio-desktop/releases/ Alternatively you can use the online version: app.diagrams.net/ Another app I use to draw schematics is TinyCAD for which I have a tutorial video here: ukposts.info/have/v-deo/f6mnfo6JsWeXlKM.html

Thank you very much! To make the resistors display their colour rings just double click on the resistor and then when the dialog box comes up, enter the resistance value into the field marked 'Value:' near the bottom. Then choose the units e.g. ohms and click OK. Hope that helps!

I’m building a small signal amplifier (common emitter with one NPN transistor) to make a treble boost for my guitar. Was wondering if I should cut all the traces that are extra so they don’t act like an antenna and introduce noise?

Im confused, (as I’m watching) 555 timer is reversed right, since it is on the other side, but when you counted you started upper left (bottoms side) saying “1,2,3,4..” but aren’t they 8,7,6,5?

Hi shader26, the view we have in DIYLC is the view looking down on the top surface of the board i.e. the side of the board we put the components on. It can be confusing because the copper strips are shown. You would not normally be able to see these because they would be on the underside of the board, but they are shown in DIYLC so that you can see which way they are aligned (horizontal in this case). Imagine the board is made of glass and you can see the copper strips on the other side. Hope that helps.

@@user-ed7wz8im5s If you are using Windows you should click on the blue text that says "diylc-4.37.0-win.exe" and then once the file has finished downloading double click on the file itself (usually located in the bottom left of your browser) and follow the instructions. Hope that helps.
