@@kusi258 Criminally underrated, when people even give goat to s1mple, rather than annual hltv player of the year, despite lackluster achievements and only surpassing device in hltv performance statistics, which aren't bad per se, but also don't define best csgo in the world. Currently there are only two options, vitality and zywoo vs device and astralis, everyone else has months of catching up to do, even your number three navi-s1mple.

@@kusi258 The rankings show shit, the rankings will most certainly underestimate glaive's mechanical abilities, and everyone with half a brain can see that. The amount of deaths he has for info, for trade frags for teammates to get map control etc, the amount of time he fails kills as igl, because the majority of his focus isn't on performing but in making the team do what it needs to succeed. Csgo has come far from the times of (mechanical) skill = success. And by success I mean kills and rounds that turn to numbers in lists like hltv. Everyone who's followed the scene knows that in the era of fragging gods device was right up there, you think he just doesn't know how to play anymore but still is the most successful player in the most successful team ever? The truth is that the way top 5-10 teams have to play csgo nowadays undermines the ability of an individual to focus mainly in their own game (unless it is a huge part of their role, for example niko from the ongoing blast, or s1mple seemingly always), so we really have no idea what devices actual mechanical ability of today is. I wouldn't even mind if people said acor is the most mechanical player in the world, mechanics are such a small part of differentiating yourself in high tier csgo by this point that I'd rather have people ignore it altogether than have people make unfounded guesses and even moreso totally unfounded award choices based on faulty reasoning see goating s1mple due to his mechanical prowess above, despite other players of similar feats with much more impressive resumes of accomplishments, which in all other sports and goat conversations would be the obvious final nail in the coffin.

It’s not how I see him.. I take the first 3 places of this ranking as one of the most special ‘awards’ you can earn and so I put ‘3rd’, ‘2nd’ and ‘the best’ player of the year in the title for those. I’ve been doing it since I started running this series and I still don’t think it’s a bad idea. Everyone who knows device or well.. basically.. anyone who knows players in the first 3 spots knows they are insanely good and I really don’t think it’s necessary to include some special names or whatever in the title.

yeah forgot them but they are very young compared to the players I mentioned. Simple became world-class in 2016 though so at the same time as the coldzera era I guess. Niko has a very similar timeline compared to simple, also around 2016. They were only 19 in 2016, same as Zywoo in 2019 I think.

depends on how you define GOAT or great. simple 2018 or maybe zywoo now or in the future is the best skill ceiling anyone has ever reached so I think best of all time (BOAT sounds like crap but yeah) is more suitable but device's consistency plus him being the centre of Astralis, the greatest team of all time, makes him eligible for the title of the GOAT of csgo.

@@jimmykhoury167 because mechanical skill isnt the only thing that is skilled in this game. his gamesense is unreal, and his playstyle is what 99.9% of people should aim to achieve. also, its hard to say whos the best player on astralis, since all of them have different roles :) you cant compare an awper to a rifler, and you cant compare a support to an entry and no, they dont win only because of device, which is not something i can see why you brought into this, the goal for a cs team isnt to get carried by a single player. you sound like a silver.
