I remember when I was a little girl, my mother spoke of how Art Linkletters daughter was on drugs and thought she could fly and fell off the building to her death.That was the story back then.

I think with no drugs found in her system and a guy who has been at the scene of two suspicious deaths makes and makes a movie about a murder I would look a little closer at him.

I remember my parents talking about this case….Leary was such a douchebag…good on Linkletter for telling him what he was.

The look on Leary's face was hilarious, I don't think anyone wished him dead to his face. I'm glad art got to rip him though.

There are too many weird things about this "suicide". She made cookies and put the pan of cookies on the counter and then she got up on the counter to get to the window in order to jump from it. And then the other woman died from drowning and she couldn't swim. It is too weird that the same man was with each woman as she died.

Mr Linkletter told that Dr off like any parent would.

I never heard anyone so roasted as Leary by Linkletter. Boom!!!

So tragic. The pain her dad and probably her whole family went through - you feel it in Art's voice. 🙏❤️

I’ve always felt there was way more to Diane Linkletter’s death. The supposed witnesses couldn’t see what happened inside the apartment itself. I think something went down and she was either pushed by Ed Durston or she was desperately trying to get away from him. Another great video Scott 😊 👍 keep up the good work

Does anyone else think it’s odd that Mr. Durston was with two women who died mysteriously????? I still remember hearing about Carol Wayne’s bizarre death when I was little. I almost want to say that she’d been on a prerecorded episode of Merv Griffin and than when the ten o’clock news came on they reported her death. Scared the crap out of me 😩

The last, broken voice plea has me in tears. I'm not a mom/parent, but I don't believe anyone can listen to the last 30 seconds and not feel the heartbreak. Thanks Scott. The cry was cathartic.

When someone claims a person was on drugs and jumped but there are no drugs in the body, then you have to question why he lied and if the person actually jumped.

No such thing as LSD flashbacks. That was a myth and never proven to exist.

Leary seemed to have no concern for Diane death or Art's suffering.

Wow, that was really sad. I remember when that happened. When I was a kid and lived in Southern California, I auditioned for the show "kids say the darndest things." I didn't meet Art Linkletter but I was interviewed by his son Jack Linkletter, which I remember well and I still have the photo that he and his photographer took of me that day, but they didn't choose me because I was a shy little shit gay boy LOL and barely spoke. I was cute as hell though. I have a pretty outrageous sense of humor and always have but I never have been able to laugh at parodies of things like this such as the John Waters movie about Diane Linkletter, I just won't laugh about other people's pain and I can only imagine how painful it was to lose his daughter. Especially after hearing that record you played. Really heartbreaking. I also have to give old Art Linkletter, who was a huge star to us back in the day, props for telling off that turd Timothy Leary. He really very eloquently and accurately tore him to shreds. This was really one of your best.

I met Art Linkletter in an elevator in L.A. in the mid-1990s. He was cheerful and friendly, and he gave me his autograph. A true gentleman.

I think Art and the investigators got this one wrong! I highly doubt acid flashback!!! He planted the idea in her brothers head as an alibi!

wow Durston being at location of two deaths he definitely had something to do with Diane Linklater’s death; kudos for Art telling Leary off; so sad Linklater lost his daughter tragically; we had books and collections of Art’s works when we were growing up

Timothy O'Leary was laughing during that interview with Art Linkletter. I wonder what was so funny about a grieving father discussing his daughter's death involving LSD. People trusted Timothy O'Leary be cause he had his Doctor of Psychology and he was also a professor of psychology. He was in a position of trust and he abused that trust!

I remember when this happened very well. I was 16 and my parents used this incident to illustrate how dangerous drug use could be. Whether she was high or not, it was terribly sad and such a shock. I agree that Ed Durston may have had something to do Diane's death and Carol Wayne's, too.

I well remember this as I was sixteen at the time. Many times I've recounted the summer of 1969 with the Ted Kennedy Chappaquiddick incident of July 18th followed by the July 20th Neil Armstrong moon landing, the August 8th Sharon Tate murders, the August 14th murder of Ted Lennon and the Woodstock Music Festival opening on August 15th. Followed closely by Diane Linkletter's murder/suicide in the early Autumn. It was the best of times it was the worst of times.

More to this story. I remember when Diane died -- it was horrible. Never felt the investigators got it right. Too sketchy for her to have climbed on a tiny counter to squeeze out of a very small window. The man who was with her needs another investigation.

I remember when this happened. I was so young but watched Art Linkletter everyday. Now Im so old and still remember this and its troubling to say the least.

My mom mom used to say don't eat suspicious stuff at a party bc look at poor Diane linkletter. When Art would do the craftmatic adjustable bed ads she would talk about how his daughter took drugs and jumped out a window

Art Linkletter was a good man (1912-2010) age 97 and from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Canada

Scott, I remember when this happened. I was only 13 but remember the impact of her death. All the time, I thought she must have been high as a kite, because that’s what the rumors said. . Now to find out she was sober......... and that guy she was with seems really shady. All we know is what he says happened. And like you stated, he was also with Carol Wayne at the time of her death. Hi Scott, how funny, I was just thinking of making a video about this. Once again, you are one step ahead of me, lol. :-) I was thinking about you yesterday. I visited Christopher Dennis' gravesite and just uploaded my video a few minutes ago. I mentioned your earlier video to his death site.

I was, gosh....14 years old when this incident happened. The parents later used "Charles Manson" and "Art Linkletter's daughter" as ammunition against me and the current counter culture. "You're going to turn into Charles Manson!" Or "You'll get hooked on drugs and end up like Art Linkletter's daughter. The news did not help showing interviews with Art blaming "The Beatles...and Guthrie." Later I found out Grace Slick was a target of Art's also. Such is being a young teen with long hair back in 1969 and 1970.

I can assure viewers of this channel that Diane did not jump to her death. I knew Diane personally, and in the mid-1960s we were engaged to be married. The details are in my book "Diane Linkletter: A Princess Wrongly Accused."

I was in the small dorm at Chadwick with her. In the 9 months I lived with her I had very little contact with her. I remember her only having a nose job and being ashamed of the bandages. I never met her father. I can’t believe I shared such close quarters with someone and have nothing specific to say.

Strange event it reminds me of Anderson Coopers brother when he just decided to climb out on the balcony & drop off.

Mr. Linkletter may have gotten carried away, but he was a heartbroken, bereaved father. Dr. Leary looked like a cold blooded asshole in that clip, although admittedly we didn't see the entire exchange.

What a great segment on Diane Linkletter Scott. I can only imagine how Art must have felt and the pain he endured. I’m glad your back to work and hopefully Covid is done for good. LA has so much history and one of the reasons I watch your channel.

I have heard that Art Linkletter was not a very nice man but I hope that it isn't true. He was so bull-headed about her death being due to acid but no LSD was in her system. She was such a lovely girl and it's terrible that she never got to live her life. I definitely have my doubts about the man who was with her.

If I’m not mistaken , Axel Rose lived in the building , it’s where the fight controversy w/ his neighbor happened .Also another Madam who was operating @ the time of Heidi Fliess lived there . She ended up dying of suicide.

I vividly remember this story! Rumor had it that drinks were being laced with tabs of acid (it was really happening where I grew up). I credit Art Linkletter's push to inform the public of the dangers of drug use. It made me stay away from punches and unattended drinks when I was out at a party or the bar.

I read that she could have done LSD but it had been hours since she had do it.. and that there were some family problems but they didn't want that public so I guess it was easier to blame the drugs I don't know

I loved Art Linkletter as a little girl and was heartbroken when I heard his daughter “jumped from her high rise, due to drugs” at least that is what I was told back then. Art still brings a smile to my face.

I remember this. Yes, my parents had this record and played it for awhile after her death. I think it shook folks up at the time simply for the fact that it was Art Linkletter’s daughter. He of course was very popular at the time and the fact that his daughter did that made the news.

I like what you did with this video, calm, cool, and it came across emotionally when necessary. I like the record skipping, it really added depth to the moment, and conveyed the gap between father and daughter. ;-) Tragic story.

If I do remember he opened a drug rehab and was on Alcohol And Drug Abuse committee He was a good man who loved family his own mother put him up for adoption as a newborn he always wanted to meet her but it never happened Very sad story
