Well, finally someone who can compete with Samsung on this market. Competition is always good, hope Samsung will now realize they're not the only one and speed up the innovation in foldables

Since it is Xiaomi's second fold phone and Samsung has released their 4th, it seems that Xiaomi is doing pretty well, considering that they did start 2 years late. If given enough time, both companies could make outstanding foldables.

Personally, for me this was one of, if not the best video you've ever made. You were so simple but always on point. The green environment helped a lot as a background, and the lighting was exceptionally good(plus, your puns were better this time)

Even though I'm not a Xiaomi fan this phone looks sick. The first foldable phone that seems like something I'd actually want. There's just one question remaining - how good it is in terms of reliability. There has been some major problems with Samsung's foldable screens already I wonder how did they manage solve cracking issues.

Recently bought a zfold 4, I absolutely love it! The angle on the hinge let's you put a cover that protects both inside and out... overall I'm really happy with the purchase

I wish foldable phones had a aspect ratio closer to a regular phone on the inner screen so when watching movies or any content it takes full advantage of its larger screen. Great vid as always

On the subject of display inefficiency: I wonder if, especially on a clamshell, a folding phone could use an e-ink display - not sufficient for full usage, but for a smaller screen that's pretending to be a smart watch 90% of the time, it might be able to do the trick.

Love the review, simple, straightforward forward, and practical. While foldable are good, we are many years of improvements away before foldable technology is fully mature hardware-wise and software-wise. Companies are just trying to be the first to capture the market.

With all the drawbacks/sacrifice xiaomi had to make for this phone, I do think it is by far the most practical foldable phone in the world. It’s thin enough so I can really use it like a normal phone most of the time, and use it like a tablet when I need to. Maybe it’s just me but I’m all in for the no puncture/notch full display on the inside. Video call with the main camera is pretty ok.

i got the z fold 4 day one and love it. yeah its a bit chonky and i really only use the full screen for videos but i still like it. it has great performance and is useful in situations you would never expect

2:03 that separation at Samsung is not because it is an old system, but it is anti-dust and dirt, if you close the phone, do not press what you have between the screens. I find the Samsung teapot much more practical.

I didnt get a samsung fold until the 2 when i knew it would be much better and now I traded that in for the 4 I love the form factor and the new features. I look forward to seeing what the Z Fold 6 brings.

I absolutely love how you built it up all so high and mighty. Only to then bring it crashing back down to earth with the harsh realities of what makes acquiring a phone especially of that size and price point in 2022 where in my opinion personally the Cons outweigh the Pros however each to their own. What you've essentially done Arun is perform a Claude Littner on this video and I absolutely love it!

I finally got a foldable device, the fold 4 after thinking it has so many downsides. I heard again and again that golden up, it's too big to hold, and unfolded it's too wide to type. I feel like it's a phone made for my giant proportions and feels just right

as to the size of the outside screen of the z fold, i actually prefer it once i started using it. reminds me of old little iphones. it's so comfortable. plus the gap when closing protects the inner screen from being scratched further by dust or sand.

The flip is still my favorite, I think companies should focus on phones like the flip

I made the jump from 13 pro max to fold 4. Had a couple of weeks with it now I absolutely love it. Battery is a bit poor compared to my iPhone but I do use the fold a lot more then I did the iPhone

Xiaomis weakness has always been software. They always had great cameras, build quality and specs. I wish they move on to a more purer version of Android or atleast launch a separate line of phones which don't run on MIUI, like they did with the android one program a few years back.

I like my fold 4. And the fact then folded it has a narrow screen. About thickness - it does not bother me, and I can put in on a shelf or desk, and it stands by itself, good for me as I always have my phone silenced.

This is a really nice fold!! Now this is a foldable phone I'd actually want to use!!

Foldables aren't quite there for me yet, but always tempting. This is a good step forward to me, cannot stand the AR on the front screen of the Samsung and that alone makes it a total non-starter for me.

Finally someone names current shortcomings of this form factor sincerely. I really cannot justify switching to the Fold from my S22 Ultra how ever I wish I could.

Fold form factor is nice but I feel like there's a next gen answer that I can't really imagine yet. I'm hoping more competition pushes us toward that next generation faster

I love the wider front screen, really makes it more usable, but the lack of a stylus defeats the purpose for me. It would be perfect for something like taking notes in class and studying on the go with that tablet sized screen and then a normal phone for everyday use. Even the cost makes sense when you factor in specs and having to buy a tablet instead. So close, yet so far...

1:40 for the times wanted to press backspace and hit enter/send there is a way. its called typewise. it has hexagonal keys to better match your finger tips (who has square fingertips?) Takes a while to get used to, but once u get going i promise u will type faster, more accurate and the best thing is that enter is not next to backspace. or you can swipe left ANYWHERE to backspace and right to repaste what you deleted. If you take the time to get used to it for a good 14 days im sure u will thank me for it Arun.

Huawei Mate XS2 has the best form factor on a foldable at the moment. Very user friendly and the case in the box makes it convenient to carry around without worrying about scratching the display. It has a dedicated selfie camera as well as rear cameras and a rear screen that can be used to take selfies/make video calls

With all that inefficiency, you're getting the convenience of a tablet/phone combo device. Super cool.

Just got my z fold 4 the other week, my first folding phone. I must say I'm absolutely blown away by the efficiency, productivity, etc that it brings. I will *NEVER* be going back to a regular slab/candy bar phone. 10/10 for the z fold 4!

Re: Protective cases -- there's a few companies that produce wrap-around cases for the Samsung Fold series, that protect everything (including the hinge).

Great video, but I couldn't help but get distracted by the location... was that Wollaton Park?! Damn, I really want to visit Wollaton Park/Hall again, last time I was there, I was just out of school, (around 16) I moved away from Nottingham over ten years ago, and now I'm feeling homesick all over again. Do they still have the room with all the old phones hooked up? Anyway, as for the phone, to me, fold phones have a looong way to go before I can see them as anything more than a fad. It's awesome, but impractical with all the sacrifices made to achieve them and the lack of app appropriate support and video aspect ratio formats. I'm more interested in the folding screens, and what that can bring to other devices in the future. So many possibilities.

Ever since my Kyocera Echo, I've had high hopes for another foldable but all seem to have missed the boat.

I've got to contest against the form factor argument. Yes, the other screen is tucked away when you don't use it, but it also means that it is well protected against drops. Most importantly though, the super thin and thick form factor to me at least has made it an amazing one handed phone. I don't need to use two fingers to type when I can just swipe with my one, and having it be as thick as it is makes it fit in my hand more confidently, where with a thinner phone I feel like I can't use it one handed without a risk of it falling when I try to reach for buttons not immediately placed at my thumb. It's definitely a niche product, but with enough time with it you find that it's super efficient closed as a one handed device, and really great multitasking powerhouse as a two handed device when opened. I personally can't think of going back to a standard form factor phone anymore, the things it does well it just far above the competition.

That MIUI fold is impressive, the fact that they take their time to make its own dedicated software

Xiaomi is really growing big and really improves major with every new device release. Big fan of Xiaomi.

I think the circle in background where we can see you is distracting. But that's just my opinion. I guess it can help you make the content look nicely presented in a unique way while also preventing others from jacking your video samples.

I mean both Huawei and xiaomi foldable looked fine off the box before as well. The issue that always came after a month or two was the durability of the phone because of the sacrifices they made to make it look like they beat samsung. Also that internal crease actually looks very clear and visible even on recording like this, which means it's prob worse irl.

Yeah the Xiaomi looks alot nicer. Theres a few aesthetic things i like better on the Samsung but fhe form factor being alot thinner, folding flat, and looking like a normal phone when folded. Now if Samsung did all these things they would have a perfect foldable device. Great video as always Arun! 👍🏻❤️

Watching this on my Z Fold 4. I absolutely love it, I could definitely say that now it's the time to turn into foldable phones. The different ways to take pictures, the image quality on both screens, the so practical Taskbar for multitasking. By the way, I found really useful multitask on the main screen. The only weak point I have experienced is the battery life, as on every Samsung phone (except for the S7 Edge). Fold 4 is quite expensive though, but I'm taking advantage of every single feature on it. Thanks for this honest review, man. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
