I have a similar engine for irrigatining my rice field. Sometimes I have to turn the crank handle so fast that i am on the brink of collapsing......and then the contraption starts. If not I also have to get new water to prime the pump. But believe me, the joy of watching the pump finally working is woth it.

These people absolutely amaze me at what they do with so little. I have a Petter AC1 diesel and I get wound up if the glow coil and electric start doesn't fire it off in more than 6 - 8 revolutions. :P But to be fair, yes I have shoved a propane blowtorch down a old diesels throat to get it to start on a cold day a few times so I can respect the flaming stick approach. :).

that water line going to the engine is to cool it as water from the pump is pressurized and pumped out around the engine cylinder in the water jacket. Very satisfying feeling to see all that water just coming out. definitely a magical moment.

I sat here in my heated and air conditioned home and watched these men and I thanked God for my really cushy retirement. When he pulled that injector I thought, "What?'. Injector work without a sterile environment and latex gloves?" We could use these men as teachers in our schools to teach our kids to use their brains.
@snowflakemelter11724 роки тому
Diesel injectors aren't serviced in a " sterile environment" it just has to be clean. This guy didn't strip the injector he only took it out.
@deise42084 роки тому
This engine's injector is probably veery hard to clog. It would most likely run on vegetable oil too. xD Got One old german truck at home, you can fill the engine with rape oil and it works (and smells like pommes)

Glad to see someone who uses a Crescent wrench correctly. If you only have one wrench, learn how to avoid wallowing-out the jaw and rounding nuts with it. Guess what wrench Lindberg had on his plane... Also, would appreciate the camerawork done w/a monopod or something to reduce the motion. Gives some of us vertigo effects. My dad said we water our lawns (or flush...) with better water than much of the world can walk to. Agriculture is not possible in many areas without wells and pumps like this.

See cell phone lying on the grass at 21:26. Probably watching a YT video on how to start the darn thing.
Now that the water is flowing would be a good time to refill those water pots so that next time, the old guy doesn't have to walk miles to get water and miles to carry it back. Just a little effort savings suggestion.

That was well worth watching, and I say so myself really satisfying....Trying to telepathically to tell the mechanic what's maybe wrong and behold he fixed it ....I was riveted to the screen because this was more worthwhile besides life or death in these parts these wonderfully inventive people , necessity is the mother of invention and im going too watch more ,God I wish I was there to help them just because they would really appreciate it and that's enough reward for me ....no money involved for just the satisfaction of being helpful, even though I have one arm theyre isn't a lot that beats me ....just use my loaf on how to solve it takes a bit longer than a pers with two arms but I won't give into it ever! And these folks can't give in a life maybe in the balance Thanks to the provider of the footage 👍

You would think by now they would learn to save some water to prime the pump when it is running.
@boondocker79644 роки тому
Oh well, live and learn.
@Gynotai4 роки тому
If this style of pump needs water for lubrication, it would have to be primed before starting, otherwise you could seize the bearings in the water pump. If not, you still have to remove the air from around the pumps impeller, otherwise it will be air bound and not pump water. Priming it prior to starting it accomplishes this. That said, I know I take for granted how easy it is to access clean water by just turning a knob. These gentlemen have to work hard for it.
