I'm fully in board with the idea of endermite parasitism, but I always thought the endermen didn't want the players looking at them in the eyes because it's a pride thing. Endermen just don't want another builder seeing what they became. Endermen don't attack when they look at the player themselves. Only when we look at them. Even if their backs are turned, they can tell we saw them.

The way I see Endermen and The End dimension is like this: Endermen are a highly advanced race of aliens that created the original "interface" hinted at in the End Poem: A Matrix-like program designed to provide an interface for the player (you) to interact with the universe. The original interface is Minecraft, but the current interface is the real world (which the two Endermen call "the long dream"). Endermen are so evolved such that their species has peaked (or "reached the highest level" as the end poem puts it), so they find purpose in observing other lesser beings, such as the player. They're also incredibly adamant about non-intervention, which is why they become hostile when the player makes eye contact with them. It is a largely boring existence, but sometimes their creativity gets the better of them and they move a block or two, but there's very little thought put into where to place that block because they lack the spark of life/creativity that endures within the player. Compared to them, we are still innocent. Still naive in our limited understanding of the universe that we haven't yet lost the drive to build. To create. Something they lost aeons ago. So they simply watch you, the player, to see how you progress. As for The End, It's not a dimension per-se, but a time. The end is, quite literally, the end of everything. It's a time and place (the center of the universe, maybe?) where the last conglomation of matter endures before the inevitable heat-death of everything. I'm not sure why there's gravity that pulls you into the void, but my best guess is that the end islands are suspended above a hypermassive black hole, so the end is not just heat death, but also a slow, big, crunch. It doesn't cover everything, but that's my take.

Endermen are and always me be my fave mob. I LOVE the sounds they make, their design and their mysterious nature. They're so beautiful

I think that another one of the reasons the builders left for the ancient cities and strongholds was that there was a pandemic or some sort of plague and zombies in the overworld are victims of this (along with the wither etc.) But maybe this parasitic infection was this plague so builders turned to infected humans - either died and became zombies, or survived and became endermen which teleport dimensions to absorb the pearliness out of the infected who haven't yet transitioned. Endermen in the end could be refugees going there and then becoming endermen anyway or just those who transported the dimensions, bringing endermites with them.

I want to see Mojang expand on the Endermen where we can help them gain a chunk of their humanity back. I've always liked them and felt like their story was more tragic, like you say in this video. Well done on this!

The Endermen are the shadows of players from deleted worlds. Their world ended so they are called Endermen. The teleporting is just a left over memory of the player leaving the game and then coming back. These poor souls pick up the blocks to build something but without the original player to guide them they dont know what to build. They are lost, along with all of the wisdom of their former player but they believe that the wisdom is stored in the pearls so they drop them in a last attempt to pass on what they once knew. I love these types of videos. Lots of fun to watch.

i once had this terrifying experience with one of them. so basically i was a kid back then who had just gotten their hands on minecraft for the nintendo switch a couple days before these events. so one day in the living room i was playing the game in creative mode and idk anymore what i wanted to do but i wanted to do som that would require me to leave my house and explore. so after flying away i turn on survival mode and walk away. after a couple of minutes of exploring i wanted to go back but got lost. i didn’t know the art of /tp or anything back then so i tried to walk and find home. i then realized i was lost and started to run around desperately looking for home. it then turned night time and i was in a forest still looking for home. and a couple of minutes in i stop and see a mob i had never seen before.far away an enderman walked by the trees and stopped in its tracks at glanced at me from far way for a second only to the. walk off again. not thinking much of it i turned around and low and behold it was standing right behind me. i was shocked. however what made this encounter really creepy was the fact that it wasn’t staring at me. it was just standing there looking above my head at the trees behind. after staring it down for a few seconds.(luckily i didn’t look it in the eyes back then so it wasn’t aggressive) i tried to attack it with my fist out of fear but it teleported away before i could. (looking back at it now i was pretty lucky back then especially considering that i didn’t get to hit it and so it wasn’t aggresive) i never saw it again after that however i was so scared that day that after the encounter i let myself get killed by a drowned zombie that i found wandering in the middle of the forest so i could respawn at my house just because i was so scared to see it again. the reason i didn’t donit originally was because i had items on me however i was just scared so i did it. pretty sure i ended up retrieving them with creative tho. i still think enderman are creepy to this day. and the worst part is as i stated in the story it was in a forest at night time. TLDR: got lost in a forest in minecraft looking for home when i was a kid, it then turned night time and i had the scariest enderman encounter ever.

Next question, how'd they get to the end islands? a second portal taking you to them only appears after the ender dragon, so did they kill a dragon but didn't return to the surface? it would explain the dragon heads on the front of the ships

Something you could add on to the end theory is the chorus fruit. Chorus fruit have always baffled me for a long time, like how did they even get there? Well, if you're observant, you may notice that in end cities, some of the loot in chests are beetroot seeds. Maybe chorus fruit used to be beetroot and over time evolved into what it is now.

This is a great video but around 11:30 when you talk about the mobestiary I think it’s referencing the endermen as the visitors not from our world. It talks about overworld inhabitants being host, I’m not sure but I think the endermen reside in the end and visit the overworld I like the idea of ender pearls being like kidney stones though, makes sense if throwing them cracks them open and sometimes releases an endermite

Theory When u throw an ender pearl, it cracks. This gives a chance for the endermite to escape when thrown. However, the crack does not always appear where the endermite is so this only makes it a low chance for then to spawn when throwing the ender pearl Just a theory

ok but this theory goes perfectly in line with one of the Voicelines of the Endermen "OH GOD NOT NOW NOT NOW" it's like they're trying to fight off against something they can't control... the parasites the fact that the other Voicelines are rather friendly, and even point towards the End dimension, and the fact that killing the dragon gives the "Free the end" achievement only solidifies this

I think that the reason why endermen "can't" pick up blocks from the end is because they don't want to. They likely built the end cities and don't want to take it apart.

So the theory, when extended to the lore of Minecraft: Dungeons, I can think of this: the Watchlings may be the result of the endermite infesting overworld zombies (regular zombies and husks), the Blastlings being skeletons that were also infested by the endermites. The Snarelings were spiders that were also infested by the endermites. But where do the Endersent come from? The logical explanation is that they may be a mutated/evolved species of Endermen.

There is probably some unnoticeable plot holes here but i can't seem to find it even if i watch the video again and again. This theory is actually pretty great since there are multiple sources of evidence and stuff makes sense like the Endermen's Human/Parasite sides (Human side attacking the Parasites to kill it's kind and Parasite side attacking Humans trying to infect them)

Theory: The reason that only ender PEARLS can spawn endermen is because, like Wifies said, they formed around the parasites to fight them. When the pearl breaks, the parasite is freed. Edit: The reason it turns into an ender EYE after adding blaze powder is because it kills the parasite.

13:00 Endermites are exceptionally similar to silverfish, which themselves reside in the stronghold and spawn right beside the end portal. I'd bet that the endermite is the altered form of silverfish that the people brought with them to the end.

This could also explain the lava room in the fortress. The lava room could act as a both a smithy, a place to cook food, and an impromptu nether portal lighter, having it on hand at all times would be helpful dealing with either a large possibly dragon like creature from one side, or zombies from the other. Plus they would likely need to reconstruct nether brick often, so having the fire source would likely come in handy. it extends far enough down that you could drip it over netherack quickly and smelt more bricks, so it's multifunctional and just makes sense to have close by, even if you can grab it from anywhere.

Hello, I'm relatively new to Minecraft, just picked it up for the switch and have been watching a lot of tutorials to get a grasp on game mechanics. Wound up finding this video, and the nether fortresses theory video. If think it would go something like this: Following the timeline of a zombie infection, the ancient builders may have constructed the nether portals to escape, this being their first experience with teleportation. Suggesting at this point that the ancient builders were human, and the zombie virus was an infection, possibly even a parasitic one, you get into your theory of the fortresses being used as a fortress to avoid the zombie virus. We know zombified piglins exist, so the zombie virus had to have persisted beyond the nether portal. As well, I'd agree potion experimentation would have followed, and the ancient builders would have through this advanced knowledge of materials and ore. Perhaps their way of terminating the zombie virus was to create a potion which localized the parasite. It doesn't make sense the mites wouldn't have shown up until the end, because they would need to have ender pearls to construct the end portal, so they would have to predate those. As well, the glow that comes from ender mites, ender pearls, and the nether portal all look like enchantment animations. This could explain why the ender mites can't exist very long outside the host, because that's how a parasite would work, as well the endermen have an immunity to the parasite, so it wouldn't care to attack, whereas the zombie virus itself is able to jump between at least humanoid species. To go with this, the end isn't the only place enderman show up, so not all endermen would have been trapped at the end, though some certainly were, do the endermen had to have existed prior to reaching the end. Through experimentation to cure/augment the zombie virus, they encountered knowledge of the soul which they could have used to strip the virus itself out of the human body. Zombies don't actively attack skeletons, perhaps because the parasite knows there's no point to the host, whereas skeletons are mindless and will attack pretty much any humanoid, not for sustenance, bit simply as a mechanic. What of the mind the zombie virus infected would have had to be removed, including all concept of comraderie, which both the endermen, and zombies share, at least to the extent of only showing violence towards humans. It's likely endermen are somewhat curious of current builders, as in a way it's like looking at what they used to be, or more Should be, having once been human. It's also possible that looking one in the eye has the effect of making them feel somewhat hideous. They likely created the wither in the nether as part of their experimentation, and due more simply to being more and more concentrated there, as it is more likely to find them there, and ender really only show up at night or in dark caves on the surface, which may be a leftover effect of the parasite that affected then, since they burn in the sunlight. Through experimentation, and prolonged use and exposure of the nether portal it may have become an ability that was produced in them, and the pearl just so happens to carry the virus that they attempted to prevent from spreading. As the structure was more and more exposed to the nether, it gained latent abilities from it. So the experimentation may have augmented that, and turned the endermen essentially into walking portals, part of that may also have been due to a use of obsidian in the potion making and experimenting. The virus would likely have been passed on through genetics from parent to child, as would the treatment turning it into the pearl. Which would explain why you need magma cream for ender eyes in order to get to the end, as it takes lava and flowing water to make obsidian. Blood is flowing water, and the nether is full of flowing magma, it's possible that among the experiments the endermen augmented the pearl with fire/magma. We see that they certainly seem to have done so, given the blaze, which seem as you said to be a soul somehow bound to a hardened rid of lava or fire. To go with that, the endermen tend to teleport rapidly when on fire, which could be partly the portal freaking out in addition to the human side and parasite side burning. So until the endermen came along, being the answer to the zombie plague, the best they could do would have been to strip what remained of the soul from the infected, and use the skeletons to try and fend off zombies and other locals. However the remains threat of the large beasts may have been dragons, or else something similar, which may have augmented research in potions and enchantments. It would explain why the last one we know if is kept imprisoned until we come along, as they may still want to try and use it to some 'end' lol. After all the endermen are still always searching for materials, no matter where you see them, and they are about the only ones you see who do that. Zombies will pick up things left behind by the player, or that get turned into blocks, but not concuously for a purpose, but rather like an instinct. Endermen on the other hand will purposely pick up different blocks from the world, more often then not natural blocks. Either to bring them to the end, or for further research attempting to return in some way back to what they used to be by reconstructing the original human genome. It may even be how our generated character gets created, as we are the only ones that look completely human (of course suggesting that's your avatar build) however playing single player there is absolutely no other characters like ours, the closest things are zombies and skeletons.

No, they cant have been trapped by THE enderdragon, as the ships have its head. Although the amount of initial dragons are unknown, its clear they can reproduce, through eggs. Also, the ingredient to coming to the end dimension is ender eyes, made from ender pearls and blaze powder (which might tell us something?), thus ender pearls existed before the got infected later in the story.

This is a disturbing yet cool story it makes perfect sense and it’s very useful to know

I have a hypothesis that the end isn't so much a different dimension, but the future. The Minecraft world succumbing to entropy, on the very verge of heat death, with endermen being humans mutated by its influence. The reason they attack if you see their face is because they take it as some sort of taunt from the player, longing to be human like them and resenting the fact that the last true human is actively transfixed on their mutated appearance. Pumpkins serve to protect humans as, to the most likely diminished minds of the enders, they're no less disfigured than them.

I still think this is the best theory. I actively play with this in mind and I’ve convinced my friends that this is who the enderman are 😭 I also love the disc theory of the endermen. It just makes sense

I have a question: When Endermen were trapped in the end dimension, how could they exist in all three dimensions (overworld and nether)?

I always thought the Endermen where created by the ancient builders to help them build but then either they became corrupted or were just left to themselves with no direction that's why they seem to randomly grab blocks because they were created to build but along the way lost their original programming.

I feel like chorus fruit was a means of the ancient builders unknowingly feeding these inter-dimensional parasites, they fed off of this alien-like fruit and it strengthened them enough to gain control of their host's mind. But as the pearl was created, it drew out this energy, leaving as a permanent part of the endermen their gained teleportation. It can only be removed, like with pearls in oysters, by opening up the enderman and removing the growth. That's just my idea though :0

I have a theory similar to his: Ancient players/builders went through the portal when it was always opened. They went through it but realized they didn't have the gear required to defeat the Ender-Dragon. So they hid under ground and inside the obsidian pillars, while they built the end gateways. They went through the end gateways and saw some chorus fruit, and they ate it. But there was a parasite in the chorus fruit, the endermites. Thats why they are hostile too the endermites, because the endermites infected the aincient players turning them into endermen. The fruit gave them teleportation abilites, and they were able to forge the chorus fruit into ender-pearls. But the parasites hid in the ender-pearls, which is why endermites spawn when an enderpearl lands after being thrown. I will give my own theory about the end-structures at 200 likes.

I just watched "the Game theories" straight before this video and after i wanna watch this 2nd channel youve said at the Start when with that book with "LORE" in it

Well, I read "The End" novel by Mojang themselves, and the story is quite different. Endermen are essentially ancient humans (Steve's or Alex's) with rotten pumpkin heads (somehow links to your story). They communicate with brain waves and only occasionally produce sounds. The "ender pearls" are their hearts where it helps them to teleport. Like a human heart, without it, they would lose the ability to teleport and die. The book rarely mentioned endermites but the endermen describe them as parasites too. By the way you forgot to explain why they hate water.
