It still freaks me to this day how unsettling Minecraft used to be... Before they fixed the lighting and the textures, you could have easily mistaken it for phycological horror

The obnoxiously large stone hallway and the wall of fences at the end could be a symbol of Anthony being trapped in a cage of his own guilt, because of this bad thing he did, what this bad thing is is still a mystery

This ARG series is so simple yet so effective, I had to cover my screen multiple times while watching it just cause it was so unnerving

My main survival world is on Minecraft Alpha and its ACTUALLY terrifying.. The lack of life, the FOG, and feeling of "emptiness" makes you feel like you are being watched..

There is something very creepy and eerie about playing a single player world and hearing extra footsteps and seeing “hallucinations” at the edge of your screen. The fog doesn’t make it any better…

With the “I wo” cutoff, my mind immediately finished it with “I wouldn’t worry” or “I wouldn’t worry too much”, like he’s comforting them

I know that a lot of those shadows in the fog could probably be explained by having those weird dark figure-like shadows just be weird glitches or just it not being loaded in correctly and whatnot, but when you're playing by yourself in dark caves, and you alone, and it's late at night, and you hear what sounds like breathing and foot steps coming towards you and torches are being broken out of no where and you take damage randomly... Scary

I miss minecraft alpha days where the game was truly mysterious and always had an eerie edge the entire time

Great video. This would be a fun mod to see. Unlike all those other Dweller mods that have things run out at you, having something that's unnaturally fast, performs impossible actions, and just wants to scare you aware, this seems like it would be more fun, and scary, to encounter. Since death often removes the horror factor, so having an entity that doesn't want to kill you but just wants you to leave, should keep that horror factor up for much longer. Bonus points if this was modded for an older version of the game like these videos.

I have quite a story similar to this so apparently my friend would feel like his being watched and even ones he was on one heart after he went afk for around 5 seconds that much damage done inside a house with no mobs or anything seems a bit odd but that wasn’t just it he had paintings all around his house he would say that paintings make it look better so all the blocks had paintings on them but the bigger paintings would change to different ones without him even touching them he thought it was a glitch due to like 20 paintings placed around his house but the shocking thing is when they all became skull paintings....he ones told me that his been finding weird structures and noises all the time ..

Around 2-3 years ago I got a Switch for my Birthday and me and my dad would always go and play minecraft on it. But sometimes when I was asleep he said he’d go down and play it. He was pretty new to minecraft so he didn’t know much, but one time He went downstairs to play. Since he was new he didn’t know mobs or anything (we were always on peaceful anyway) He said he saw my character running through our mines but with weird eyes.

i remember playing alpha back when i was 11 ish. i was always TERRIFIED and had a feeling like i was being watched constantly. finding one thing out of place was enough for me to close the game and take a long break. when i got older i wondered what changed, if i just grew out of the fear. but looking back at old recordings, nah, alpha was just scary af. you had a feeling like you didn't belong there, like exploring an abandoned or incomplete building. like the world wasn't meant to be seen yet, or something. hard to pinpoint exactly what gave alpha that vibe.

Old Minecraft fog was genuinely unsettling. I remember playing the very first version of MCPE when it came out and once night came.. oh boy

If I may give a criticism or "advice" for you to think about; it'd be that it's a bit too fast paced, which makes it a little hard to follow along. Leaving a little "space" between moving on from one segment to another gives the viewer time to absorb what you're saying, instead of having to "chase/catch up to you" as it all blends together into a sort of info-dump. BUT! This is just my two cents; it's your videos and you should make them however you want! Creating something should be fun and fulfilling for you, not some unknown audience; your audience-the one who enjoy your work and what you have to say-will find its way to you and gobble it right up! i have a theory... that the "entity" that is haunting mario and Anthony's worlds is Mojang Employees. Because employees have access to game files, new features (such as multiplayer, sprinting, etc found in the video), and can reposition game code, it is possible that the entity was a Mojang employee who was tasked to make them scared and not play the game, as those mario and Anthony are the only (known) 2 that have copied new features from Minecraft.

They could have made these videos using a modified version of a modpack someone made. It makes the game the same as alpha but in 1.19 I think it was. It’s meant to be played with the herobrine mod, a mod that adds running footsteps, sounds, mining sounds when u in caves, and other auditory things in the videos. I could be wrong but if I’m right then that’s a pretty cool concept to use the modpack for. For anybody wondering the modpack is Minecraft MCSX PS1 Edition

I need to get this story out. this was way back before the ocean update, and it was on Minecraft Xbox one edition. me and my brother started up a brand new splistcreen survival world. We called it a1, and later made worlds a2 and b1 but those aren’t important. Right off of spawn there were three crosses made of dirt. Really eerie. They were in perfect formation. Later when we were exploring, we found crosses everywhere. As holes in the ground. Shaped in the skies. But the weirdest part was about a day into the world, we got our hands on a map. We were already kinda freaked out by the crosses. And we opened the map. But instead of having two markers to signify me and my brother, there were three. it couldn’t have been a glitch, because it was moving. After a few seconds, it just disappeared. by then me and my brother were freaked out, and we switched off the Xbox and stopped playing. I haven’t been to a1 since. I dunno what was in our world. Or what the crosses were.

Maybe the fences mean that Anthony is trapped in guilt from stealing and or trapped by the entity that is in his world.

I remember a time when I was playing on the first Xbox release version way back in the day. It was a single player world and I was in the caves when I suddenly started getting hit. No mobs around anywhere. I thought it was maybe a little glitch but until I started getting hit repeatedly, like how a player would hit you. I ran outta the caves and chalked it up to just a weird glitch. It wasn’t until later that I learned what Herobrine was and the creepy pastas around it. I honestly do believe there is something very strange and creepy that exists in the early versions of Minecraft.

I don’t know if this is too obvious, but the entity is Herobrine. You can tell by the character running towards Mario who has blue pant legs, resembling a Steve-like character or in this case, Herobrine. Herobrine was known to be Notch’s brother, meaning he would probably have access to the game, wanting to keep the leaked files safe for his brother.

2:16 I’ve seen the “you” thing in a bunch of other videos too whenever a black screen with no sound is shown, the captions pretty much always say “you”

9:25 I don’t know if someone has already said this, but the “i would” could also very well be “i wouldn’t”, maybe the start of “i wouldn’t worry that much” or, in a more specific context, “i wouldn’t have done that”, suggesting goldmario knows what Anthony did and knows it’s wrong. at 11:15 you can see a small silhouette behind the hill siding slowly behind it almost like a dead body being dragged

My theory is that Anthony was an early dev for Minecraft and he coded the new blocks and released them to his own world before the public (Anthology therefore being a fake name to avoid suspicion ) and then met goldmario online and agreed to share the features with him if he agreed to help him fix a bug, the bug being the entity, my theory is that the entity was from the world a REALLY long time ago, in an old version the player could spawn copies of themselves that would run and jump around, I think that one of these somehow stayed in the game and somehow the game thought it was a mob like a pig or something.

When me and my brother first got the game, we played splitscreen, it was right after he got an Xbox 360 for his birthday. The time where animals wouldn’t stop jumping, sheep didn’t drop meat, biomes barely existed and the sea was just a plain sheet of blue. We made our first house out of pure oak logs since we didn’t know how to make planks (if they even existed then I cant remember). Creepers and endermen definitely existed at this time since me and my brother were terrified of them. We couldn’t fight all the mobs so we ran in our log cabin and shut the door. As we did, the game glitched black and when it flashed back on the world was quiet and it was daytime rather than night. When we opened our door our world had turned into a super flat world way below where our cabin was, with only our man made structures left in it. We had no items in our hot bar and our hearts were full despite us being low right before from fighting mobs. We were obviously pretty mad since we had been playing a while and even found iron (which was a big deal to us then since it took me 30 mins to realise I needed tools to mine and collect stone 🥲). We decided to jump down from our cabin and as we were falling the game lagged out again and my screen was back to inside the cabin right where is was before the screen turned black. However, my brother’s screen was glitched, stuck mid-falling in the superflat world, which had now gone really dark. He could look around but that was it, stuck glitching in mid-air. My brother freaked out and left the game and since it was on his account, it meant I left the game too. When we tried logging back in, later that day, his screen was completely black compared to mine which was completely normal. We asked our dad to try help fix it but he had no clue what to do. When I looked around on my screen I saw that his name tag was below me, under the ground. After making a shovel I dug down under the ground into a cave which was pitch black. I saw his name-tag like one block down infront of me and when I placed a torch me and my brother both freaked seeing his glitched character completely blacked out in-front of us in a perfect 3-3 hole. When we placed torches on my screen it lit up his screen too but we could see the actual torch, just the light. He was standing on the floor of that superflat world, the light being swallowed by complete darkness and fog around him. He still couldn’t move and I couldn’t hit his avatar on my screen. After that my dad logged us out and created us a new world. We never went back on that old world. If I find out old console I might just to see if it’s still like that.

Actually, though, a mod that simply messes with your world without killing you would be insane. Kinda like the herobrine mods but less straight to the point and obvious. My idea is that it slowly builds up over time, taking 300 in-game days to reach max strength, but can be sped up by a few hours for every hostile mob you kill or how much time you spend deep and dark, and other stuff like that. And maybe lowered every time you die? It would start normal for the first day or 2, then it starts breaking torches at a random chance, then it starts making the eerie footsteps and breathing, then it starts digging tunnels, and glitching the player to take damage (less that their current health) and stuff and lowering render distance, all while slowly increasing the mob spawns. All of this becomes ever more frequent until the 100% point in which it stops increasing and just stays at full capacity.
