That is not true since the power is limited by the input voltage and the impedance of the primary coil - if anything at higher voltages you will want to attenuate the gate voltage swing by connecting a capacitor between gate and source otherwise the mosfet will blow. Larger coils will resonate at a lower frequency so have less primary impedance hence more power. The input voltage can be increased but only up to a point - too high and the mosfet blows. The only real way to get more power is build a bigger coil. Power isn't the same as voltage however and a smaller coil will use less power to generate a given voltage level. It's the voltage that gives the sparks. Expect the operation current to be an amp or so at 12v. I have found smaller coils to be more satisfactory for sparks as they use less power and are therefore much safer to handle and use.

@@ongvoELstuff80 on some small coils the 1k pot is too low a value to give sufficient voltage swing on the mosfet gate to push it into saturation. Putting the resistor to 10k or even 22k will fix that without needing an expensive amplifier. If you have an oscilloscope the mosfet voltage should swing by around 4v when the coil is operating at your choosen voltage. That's minus 4 to plus 8 volts. Any lower swing and you underdrive the mosfet and it gets hot and you get very small sparks. I suspect this is what happened with your design as even at 1.5 A and 12v drive the mosfet should be slightly warm and not hot.

@@subhamsahoo1763 you get more voltage swing at the mosfet gate with a higher value resistors but it can't be too high otherwise you will blow the mosfet from too much gate voltage. If it's too small then your MOSFET won't run in saturation and you will burn a lot of power as heat and won't get good arcs.

Use a stronger MOSFET with a ballast like the irfp 460 or irfp250n

Not recommended, the Mosfet will get very hot and blow out. Add a fan and heatsink to cool it properly.

If it won't oscillate swap the primary winding connections over as it will only work one way round

Wind the primary coil in with 1-2 turns in the opposite direction of the winding of the secondary coil to make it oscillate otherwise it won't work
