I sometimes rewatch this match and it leaves me speechless every time. It might be one of the most hard fought matches in history, especially that 3d set in which nadal would have blown anyone else in history off the court yet somehow djokovic found a way to prevail. Nadal remains an untouchable god on clay and it's fitting that the GOAT managed to beat him twice at RG. One other final that was postponed to monday because of rain was a big disadvantage for Djokovic, I thought he was going to win that one too, the rain spoiled everything and he lost a bit of momentum. But in this match these two guys were playing a different game on clay than all other tennis players before them.

I still remember this was the match that sent Nadal into a deep depression for six months, he was devastated coz he lost this match to his most fierce rival at his favorite surface at the favorite tournament. It was a heartbreaking moment. Nevertheless, they have met 10 times here, Nadal has an 8-2 edge over Novak at the Roland Garros. Kudos to Novak as well for challenging Rafa at French Open on a regular basis. I wonder what it'd be like if Rafa had met Novak 10 times in Novak's favorite surface at the Australian Open.

I would say he played almost the same level in both matches but Djokovic wasn't this good in '22.
