Pirog suffered a ruptured intervertebral disc (also call herniated disc) of his spine, during preparation for a fight against Golovkin in 2012. He tried to make several comebacks but the back problem returned each time. Too bad, great fighter and great moves. Also one comment was about his lack of power but in other fights on UKposts he does show some power and has knockouts. I give credit here to Maciel who, like Pirog, has very good ring skills & defense!

That's because his opponent in this fight was extremely hard to hit. If you watch, Pirog committed to his body punches MUCH more than those he threw to the head because his opponent was defensively responsible. Had he been committing to the head, he would've gotten his ass whipped.
