@@AliM-kl5rp It's his reactions; us common folk are mostly thinking "ooh, that looked rough", but he as a doctor knows all the possibilities from said event, and his brain seems to go into hyperdrive. Former NHLer Paul Kariya was in the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals when he was on the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. They were up against the New Jersey Devils. Scott Stevens laid out Kariya with a hit to the head. Kariya went off for two shifts, came back, and scored an iconic goal. Aside from the fact that he shouldn't have returned, the scary thing is he doesn't remember any of it. It was Sidney Crosby's concussion that changed the course of the NHL and how they deal with concussions. We've come along way with dealing with concussions and head injuries in sports.

So regarding your question about ankle/foot injuries: A lot of players, Steph and Lebron included, have found that having too MUCH heel and ankle support actually causes more stress and torque to be imparted to the knees as as a result, actually causing MORE injuries. They found that by reducing the height, they were able to train for both better mobility AND ankle strength, allowing them to make their legs stronger overall without overworking their knees.

It’s different from sport to sport, but teams are usually tentative about declaring injuries because it’s a whole process. Players are usually updated on the team’s injury report, which usually comes after consult with the team’s medical staff. I worked in retail and we used metal display hooks that were pretty substantial. I walked down an aisle one time and didn't notice one in my peripheral vision until it was too late. I walked my eye (the one with significantly better vision, too) straight into a display hook. I was too afraid to open it until we got to urgent care, but my eye was completely fine. I must have closed it just in time, so it was just a bit sore from the impact. I even went back to work and finished my shift since I was fine. 😂

This is awesome! You should react to equestrian injuries next, I've seen some bad ones. Also a note on the hydrated thing, it's true that you should definitely drink water while doing any exercise. I almost passed out riding my pony in July. Had to half fall, half get off my pony and my instructor had to help me to a bench and feed me freezies.

I'd love an NHL video! Clint Malarchuk getting his throat cut (Richard Zednik if tons of blood would hinder the video), Paul Kariya getting a severe concussion but kept playing and scored but has no memory of it now, Chris Pronger's commotio cordis, Jay Bouwmeester's cardiac arrest, of course getting hit with a slapshot, would all be cool to see!

I can testify to the pain that a hit to the bottom of the spine causes, I bruised my tailbone and that has caused chronic pain for over a year at this point, my mother had a similar injury close to 10 years ago and it still hurts. I also have chronic joint pain from high stress and stuff. Edit: almost forgot to mention that it was a fall from playing a junior high PE game when I backpedaled too quickly and I am not very tall and the fall wasn’t too hard put it also began my migraines
@EvonneSol
@EvonneSol 2 місяці тому
Different activity, but when I was in ballet we discovered that most, if not all, of my joints are hyperextensive. In particular I had to retrain how I walk and how I hold my knees and ankles because I was prone to twisting and straining them. After one of those sessions, coming home, I ended up twisting my ankle and hit my knee pretty badly off the curb when I fell. That combined with concerns about twisting my ankles kept me from progressing to the next level of the class, which was pointe. We considered basketball instead, but considering these injuries and how flexible my joints are, that probably would've ended far worse.

Great video! Would love to see one for baseball, especially regarding the UCL injuries that pitchers suffer like the one Felix Bautista of the Orioles had this year. Also from any sport, cover the groin pull. What muscle that actually is, and does. Curious bout why Hamstring injuries can be tricky.

It was already confirmed by several close "sources" that the flue like symptoms came from an all nighter at the party, a very potent virus called "alcohol" apparently 😂 Which, having suffered many of such flues throughout my younger adulthood, makes him even more of a legend in my mind😮

@@jasonpoletta1797 In some countries wine and beer is considered food, so sure 😁 And yes, the official report was food poisoning, but there are many witness accounts, mostly team mates, that say that he partied hard the evening leading up to the game, and consumed a substantial amount of above mentioned food items. They probably reported it as it was due to optics, and the team didn't dig into it any deeper, it was not in their interest to suspend MJ during a finals series 🙄

I had a friend and we played American football together. One day during practice all you hear is the sound of a two by four snapping in half. We look at the source of the sound, and there was my friend with his leg doing the hockey pockey and turning itself around. Turns out he broke his femur and the leg had twisted around some where on his way to the ground. He got a rod through his hip and along the femur and was running track again a little while later.
